I just hope that the game and fish checks these people who are not hunting but drew a tag. You may not have a gun but you are still required to abide by all laws and regulations if you are holding a tag.

I don't really see anything that can be done to prevent activists from apply for and drawing tags. Requiring proof of a hunters safety certificate before being eligible to apply is about all I can come up with. Whining about it and dividing hunters from your moms basement certainly solves nothing.

Hopefully next year there will be a 2 sow mortality quota like was originally proposed. They're not going to be able to run a 200 day season so that will mean 2 hunters afield at a time. Assuming they stay at a 10 bear quota, the activists would have to draw over 50% of the top 20 tags to prevent 10 boars from being killed.

Wyoming just requires you to have hunter safety unless you were born before a certain year (1970’s????) but other than that you put in for the draw and that is your valid license.

WY and MT off the top of my head don't have a general hunting license. Your tag is your license. You do need a conservation license in WY and something similar in MT but they can be purchased after you obtain your tag and it's inexpensive. WY also doesn't require hunters safety to apply, like CO and maybe some others, it is required to hunt though.

That's right, I forgot that you don't have to have a license for Wyoming, didn't know that about Montana. That makes it a little harder to eliminate this situation.

That's ok. If they don't harvest an animal they will still put dollars into conservation and cause low success rate to allow the population to continue to grow which will create more opportunity for tags! Wahoo! Thanks activist.

Just because you are a hunter doesn't mean you have to agree with every hunt that is available, nor every method of hunting. Not saying I like the guy, just saying because he disagrees with a hunt, doesn't mean he is not a hunter.

This will be like the wolf hunts, you will hear about it for a couple years, then it will trickle away. Idaho has been holding wolf hunts for 6+ years. Have you really heard much about it since about year 2?

The buying of tags and then not hunting is not a new strategy, its been going on for years. Why do you think Idaho has a second draw for tags that weren't purchased? Let them do it, its perfectly legal and if it makes them feel better, so be it.

There is a big difference between not agreeing on a hunt and helping have a hunt shut down.

Only way to prevent them from having an influence is to sell unlimited tags and run the season on a quota. Season is over when quota is met.

Emotions are definitely getting the best of people because the “Shoot’em with a camera” people have applied for tags. I’m not sure if these are individuals who are soured are, because they threw their name in the hat, and didn’t draw.

Every tax payer has contributed to the recovery of grizzly bears over the last 4 decades. Not all of the funding to support GBear’s has come from the State Game Agency or PR dollars, but now it is. So kudos to them for putting up money for it.

As has been said, the only way they can prevent the antis from being successful is to put it on a quota. They won’t do that for sometime, considering the Feds will be watching over their shoulders for the next few years. The last thing they need is to have a repeat of WY’s wolf management slip up.

So after rereading the regulations, it appears to me that they would not be able to take their tag because they are missing the hunters safety requirement. Unless for some reason, they do have it. In that case, I can't see that they really did anything other than sport money for the draw.

I imagine it's headed towards a quota system like others have suggested. In that respect, these folks are going to make it easy for WYGF to justify the less stringent regulations that we'll see in the future.
