Accura LR-X and Williams globe sight

Utah recently changed the scopes on muzzleloaders' rules to only allow 1x scopes or open sights. I ran a vortex crossfire this year, and I wasn't a fan. The distortion of a 1X scope makes the target look further away. I'm looking at trying the Williams Globe Sight. Reading online, there seems to be some fitting issues on the Accura LR-X and MR-X models where the front sight needs to be sanded to fit, as well as some issues with the rear sight running out of adjustment. Has anyone had any issues with this? If so, was it easy to fix and mount to the barrel?

I bought the mrx model with a williams open sight already installed, but it wasn't the globe. I ordered the globe only for the front. The stock rear aperture would not go high enough so I had to order the next higher rear sight.
Just order the right combo globe and rear sight and you should be fine.

I've never shot a 1x scope, but I imagine it would be better than an open sight, even the globe.
Does the 1x still gather light and allow for better dawn/dusk shots?

I've considered a red dot as well. They don't have the distortion issues as bad ad the 1x scopes. But I also luke the simplicity of an iron sight.

I have the Accura LR-X .50 Cal in FDE and put the Williams Globe sight on it. I also purchased and installed the 0.019 diameter red fiber optic pin in it. No modification was required for the install. Just took off the original and screwed on the Williams globe. The fit was perfect. I believe you can select different Williams globes for different rifles to ensure proper fit. As for my rear sight, I have a picatinny rail with an integrated Williams peep at the back so I can’t say how the elevation fairs with the factory installed sight.

My experience hunting with this setup was phenomenal. Last month I killed a nice cow moose 30 mins into legal light using this system. With both of my eyes open, the halo of the sight and the gun melted away. All that I could see was a disambiguated red dot floating against the animal. It was a one shot kill as we all desire. Some have reported that the pin isn’t as bright as they would like but I have above average vision and the muzzle had a clear view of the sky so my experience was perfect.

I would recommend trying the fiber optic insert. I thought I would like the crosshairs better, but ended up liking the fiber optic.

I have similar setups on bother an MRX and an optima V2, no fitment issues. Williams globes up front (buy the one intended for the fiber optic and get some reticle inserts separate if you want them). For the rear I use a peep-rail (williams makes the ace in the hole, eabco makes one too). It puts the peep all the way at the back of the barrel and is taller so there is more ramp adjustment, no issues running out. Also it allows you to put a scope on/off as desired without messing with your open sights.

I have both and it depends on the hunt. For muzzy pronghorn I MUCH prefer a fine crosshair in the globe but its longer shots, smaller target, and lighter out so that works. The nice thing is you can switch between.
