A neat way to thaw meat

Just slapping it on an inverted iron skillet works very well, too.

Adding the additional iron seems like it would speed things up but I've never tried it.

A thing to watch for. This will cause your iron to sweat or condense water and, if not cared for and dried well, will cause it to rust
 
I tried it with an xl moose shank and it worked a lot faster. It wasn’t an hour but I believe the bone was the culprit. I think it kept the meat from getting full contact. Definitely faster than sitting in a plate on the counter. Thanks again!
