Is there a better choice in the $600 range 8x42 binoculars than the Leupold BX-4 Pro Guide HD Gen 2? What about the Maven C.1 8x42? Just curious. At the moment I'm using Leupold 10x50 Olympias which are ok but they are 20 years old. I'm sure I can do better and I'm ready to upgrade. I use these for whitetail hunting, woods and fields.

Thanks for your time and suggestions.

Haven't gotten to try them yet but I've seen the Kowa BD II recommended so much they're on my short list. $450-$499 for several places

There's a couple of Zeiss Conquest 8x42 in the classifieds for $600 right now if you're not opposed to used. Or keep your eye out for Nikon monarch HG. Ive seen them used for that price.

I’ve been using Kowa BD II for 2 seasons and been impressed, especially for the price. I haven’t spent enough time behind to glass to get super nit picky. Another plus is that they are super light.

The gpo rangeguide 8x40 are still on sale around 600. They are a rf bino but ive been pleased with the glass as well.

We have a Maven C1 8x42. Really nice picture, but a little narrow FOV. Better than the Vortex Viper HD I compared them to. Not the same as the 9x Maven B2 by a long shot. Haven't used the Leupold BX-4, but if I were spending $600, I would look at the aforementioned Maven B1 used or a Tract Touriq (sp?) in 8x42. Both should be readily available in that price range. Zeiss Conquest and GPO should definitely be considered as well.
