Morning all, looking at going now the 8x road in binos, trying to decide between the pures and el ranges, or the leicas? Hunt high country archery for elk mostly and will be heading to Africa next June. Anyone ran the 2?
Thanks Bryan

Pures for me, my Vortex Razor 4K handheld has good 7X glass and ranges well beyond 1000 yards easily. I don’t know the weight difference between them but IMO range finding binos are silly if you’re an avid outdoorsman. I’m in the woods year round and am looking through binos several times a week year round. Scouting, hiking, looking at animals or birds, shed hunting and multiple other things I use them for. I need to range an animal for a few seconds each year, to me it doesn’t make since to carry something around for hours when you will only use it for a very short amount of time.

Even while hunting I’ve probably only ranged 50% of the last 20+ animals we’ve killed. A lot of times you don’t have time or when rifle hunting your close enough that there is not need to range. If I were a competitive shoot or something maybe I’d want a range finding bino.

From the ones I’ve looked through the EL’s have always been superior to the EL Range and the NL is better than the EL so your defiantly giving up glass quality going a dual purpose optic.

I have the EL Range TA 8x42.

Nice, but the electronics package is below average compared to the Leica. And far below the Gunwerks.

I would not hunt without an all in one bino/lazer again.

Talk to Cody at Gohunt, but my understanding is that the current iteration of EL Range and the EL Range TA have the same glass as the NL. The mirrors are different.

Old EL's were better than SLCs
New EL's are better than old EL's
New EL's are better than EL Ranges
NL's are better than new EL's
NL's are still better than EL Range TAs but that distance is not so far.

I need to take my EL Range TA's to a shop that has the Leicas and compare them. I am not happy with the ballistics calculator at all.
