Pures for me, my Vortex Razor 4K handheld has good 7X glass and ranges well beyond 1000 yards easily. I don’t know the weight difference between them but IMO range finding binos are silly if you’re an avid outdoorsman. I’m in the woods year round and am looking through binos several times a week year round. Scouting, hiking, looking at animals or birds, shed hunting and multiple other things I use them for. I need to range an animal for a few seconds each year, to me it doesn’t make since to carry something around for hours when you will only use it for a very short amount of time.
Even while hunting I’ve probably only ranged 50% of the last 20+ animals we’ve killed. A lot of times you don’t have time or when rifle hunting your close enough that there is not need to range. If I were a competitive shoot or something maybe I’d want a range finding bino.
From the ones I’ve looked through the EL’s have always been superior to the EL Range and the NL is better than the EL so your defiantly giving up glass quality going a dual purpose optic.
