800 yard hunting scope. Simple FFP for wind, dial for elevation?

Hoping for some recommendations on 2 things.

I am currently running a Leupold vx5 second focal plane windplex. 3-15x44mm. Current max range I am comfortable shooting game with good conditions is 500, hoping to continue to push my effective range out over the next couple years to 750-800yds.

i currently dial for elevation and hold for wind with the windplex but i do not like having to be max zoom for MOA to be accurate. Hoping for recommendations on a scope that would have a clean reticle for windage but not seem cluttered like Christmas tree type reticle., i want to continue to dial elevation and hold wind if possible.

Second item, max zoom of 15 is fine with white/orange steel plates in the open but i could see some advantages to have more power magnification. if i up the top end zoom with a FFP scope i am afraid my reticle will be too small to be usable on low magnification. Should i stick with a top end of 15-18x? or look to a 24/25x power top end?

thanks,

A maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44 mil would be a great option. That's what I switched my vx5s to. Very interested in S2Hunts coming scope but time frame on that is unknown.

I've had leupold, swfa, and NF, now use the ffp trijicon tenmile hx. I turn it to 22x for shooting 600 - 1000 at the range and you can dial it down to whatever you want when hunting. Shot Deer and Elk a cpl weeks ago on 10x.

Maybe iam the odd one again.. but I say push your limit with what you have. I use to chase this idea that equipment is what makes me better, its the hours behind the gun that made the difference for me. If it meant $1,000 in a scope, or $1,000 in ammo. Id say buy ammo...
Out of the last 6 shots on game, 5 of them were between 16 and 18 power and the other was right at 12, (mule deer at 260 yards) and unfortunately I didnt see impact with my 7RM.
But the other 5 shots were between 350 and 650 yards, definitely not "long range" shots compared to some, but great opportunities. I shoot FFP and big magnification 5-25 or 6-24.
You said you have a windbreaker, great! You said your max is at 15, great! Thats right where I would put MY scope at, and in a 3-18 FFP, the reticles would be identical.
Just my $0.02... we're all play the game different. Maybe spend some time working on positioning for trace and catching impact at 15 power more before spending the money, if you keep trying and can't get it down, then make the switch.

Maven Rs 1.2 it’s my favorite scope for sure. Easy to hold on target at longer ranges. I will be swapping all scopes to this scope then going from rifle to rifle will be seamless.

Good feedback for sure. Might be putting to much thought into it.

Shot a bull this year at 290 at like 6 power. Other at 500 last year at 10x. I suppose if in out into 700-800 yards I’d be full zoom for accurate windage holds in windplex reticle.

I like the idea of FFP for one less thing to not screw up by not being full zoom or if I want to use windage. Seems like most ffp reticles I have found are pretty “busy” compared to what I am used to.
