Come get you some real world numbers. Hornady is bad, but no way 2700 for the 180s is normal.

7prc ELD-X Hornady vs Federal?

Has anyone shot 7prc ELD-X Hornady vs Federal side by side? My new rifle is ready and id like to go with ELD-X Seems like some people reporting that Federal is slightly higher velocities and more consistent? If anyone shot both please share your results Thanks

Thanks! I am looking forward to real world numbers when the 7 PRC rifle arrives. In the meantime, still trying to learn from others experiences. I have multiple boxes of Hornady ELD-M and ELD-X (175 and 180 grain) waiting for a rifle so we will see if the Hornady ballistics data is accurate with my 22 inch barrel + suppressor. I can't imagine that Hornady would 'stretch' numbers at all....

2700fps is somewhat slow for 180s

I'm running 175s at 2890 and they're performing well at the current load (6.5 SD), group size at 100 is nearly immeasurable (.185-.225).

How long of a barrel and what gun are you using for this? Trying to figure out how I want my next build to look.

This rifle is custom-built by me. 22" finished length Krieger barrel 1:8 twist rate, profiled to match proof sendero, chambered as a shouldered prefit by Eric at Blue Mountain precision in 7mm PRC AW2.

This is in a Kelbly's Nanook Long Action in a Manners LRH with a mini chassis. TriggerTech Diamond, Hawkins DBM with AICS AM 5 rounders, running a Griffin Paladin break as I have a Dual-Lok mount inside a SiCo Sythe for this rifle. Scoped with Seekins med rings holding onto an NX8 4-32x50.

Put a good side baffle brake like a ti pro 5 on and there shouldn’t be much to feel.

Keep the 300prc........add the 7prc to the collection.

I use my 300prc shooting 215 bergers for elk. The 7prc with 175's gets used for deer and elk as an option. I enjoy shooting my 7prc more than I do the 300 prc.

My 6.5prc is collecting dust. Probably use it for antelope at some point.

If I was starting new, and making my first purchase based on what I know now, I would choose the 7prc followed by the 300prc next. I get your dilemma and I ultimately lose in this battle because I end up buying a new gun because I can't get it out of my head.

I built a 7 PRC tikka for the new factor. So far so good. Velocity is kinda meh with 20 in barrel. I’m getting 2730 shooting Hornady Match.

That said, if i could do it again I’d 100% go 6.5 PRC and save some recoil. You are not spotting your hits behind this gun. Even with a suppressor…

Not sure what your Tikka weighs. I’m at 12lbs suppressed and unless you have some weight like this on the gun, yes it’s difficult, but not like a 300 PRC is difficult.

Tripod shots for me are not track able mostly. On bags, much more manageable for the 7.

6.5 PRC is subtle and crisp. I might build one next.
