7mm08 Powders

H4895 with 140 TTSX, H4350 w/140 NAB, RL15 w/120 TTSX - all good accuracy w/respective rifles - not always every rifle

I grabbed a couple boxes each of the 120ttsx and the 139lrx. Going to try them both with varget and h4350 once I can source some decent brass.

I have used 4451 with 139 Hornady IB's with very good results also R-17 worked well. Varget with 120's.

I had good results with a case full of h4350 under a 140 accubond. I never was impressed with varget in that particular rifle and tried h4350 since I had a ton of it and the accuracy and velocity was great. I remember the load being a compressed load in lapua brass but I’m not sure the charge weight now. It was for a kimber with a short mag box so I believe they were loaded somewhere around the sammi max length.

6.5 staball is performing as advertised for me with 150 partitions. I've had great luck with rl17 and 120s

I might try some 150 accubonds, how much did you load with the partitions? Obviously I’ll start lower....
I'm at hodgdons max from their website, 49.5. Definately start lower. Worked up from midrange and started seeing significant velocity jumps from 48.5 up. Everything looks great at 49.5, tried 50 and blew a primer immediately. I've read this stuff pressures up fast around the top end, they were'nt lying. I'm using nosler brass and winchester mag primer, 20" tikka loaded 20 thou off with m+ mags. Certainly don't need a mag primer, just using what I have an abundance of.

I have some of the above mentioned powders if anyone wants to trade for any blue dot, power pistol, accurate no 5, 7 or 9. Central Oregon.

I'm working up a few loads at the end of the month, I'll come back and post results.
Ladders (0.3gr increments) planned for:
Varget + AB 140, TTSX 120, HH131
H4895 + AB 140, TTSX 120, HH131

Will be using the Satterlee ladder method to find a velocity node. I will take the highest node and work up 3-4 shot groups at slightly different charges shot into a target and chrono'ed for consistency. Finally, I may tweak seating depth but these are hunting rounds that will be mag loaded in my kimber hunter which limits me to 2.82" OAL.

I would be seriously looking at 140 Absolute Hammers and running a fast powder and picking up speed without pressure. They also make a 119 Absolute Hammer that would be a screamer in a 7mm08

Great info.

What primers are you using ?

I recently acquired a 7mm08 and want to start working on loads for both the 140gr accubond and 139gr lrx. Any one loading those with H4350? I have a pile of that on hand, so it would be nice to make that work considering the current powder market. I also have a little bit of Varget and 8208 xbr to try, but not enough to last long.

From what I've found, looks like H4350 will work, but might not give me the best velocities with that combo. What's your go to powder with the 140s?
I have had some great luck with the 140gr Nosler Ballistic Silvertips over StaBall 6.5. Some people have claimed that ballistic tips shoot like accubond of similar weight in their rifles, so maybe it could be applicable to you. StaBall has shown some very, very tight SDs (as measured over a magnetospeed from my Tikka) and pretty good accuracy in general behind 120 NBT, 130 SMK and the aforementioned 140 NBT with a measured group size of .43" at 100yd. Speeds averaged 2775 with the 140 out of a 22" bbl.

Hogdon is showing this type of performance with Staball 6.5, anyone check this out ?

What I've tried so far and I'm not happy with is imr4350 (slow and max capacity) and aa2520 (high pressure but deadly accurate)

Just picked up r17 and cfe223. Loaded up some 162g with the r17 and 120gttsx with the cfe223. I will be shooting tonight so I can post up info tomorrow.

I'd like to load 120 TTSXs and 139 Interlocks for my 7-08 Montana. I have a few lbs. of Big Game that I'm in the need of a use for. Barnes shows data for 140 TTSX, but not 120 TTSX. Would you happen to have a start point for 120s.....or the 139 Interlocks, for that matter?
