Finally had time to develop a load for my 7mm rem , 24” proof Elevation MTR.

And it is a beast!!

It has a long free bore so this information is for my rifle only, and is posted for informational purposes only. Not much load data was available for the 195 EOL. So thought I’d post this

Details :
Rifle: Prrof Elevation MTR with 24” barrel and Wyatts box (3.600 COAL)
Virgin Brass ADG / primer federal 215 / BTO 2.8200 .015 OL / Coal 3.575
(Seated just below the neck union)
Powder N565.

Started at 66 grains and worked up in .5 increments. At 74 grains had slightly stiff bolt lift 74.5 stiff bolt and bolt click.
Velocity at 74.5 was 3113. 73.5 & 73.4 were 3087.

Backed down to 72.7. And loaded 5 , average fps 3047 SD 7 ES 15 / shot a group .445
I think with once fired brass the ES will improve.

Now to validate this beast. The ballistics are off the chart and in 300 category.

I’ve attached ballistics chart

Wow that’s impressive! If you don’t mind sharing what’s the freebore in your rifle? And out of curiosity what chronograph are you using? Will be interested to see how your drops work out when you validate.

I used a magneto chrono. I honestly dont know how much freebore, all of my proof elevation rifles MTR rifles come with long free bores. SAMMI lists the max COAL as 3.290. I am touching the lands at 3.5880 and loading at 3.575 (BTO 2.8350 - .015 jump).
Ill have 400 yards i can shoot out back, no perfect but should give a rough validation of the velo. i will post results

Sometimes I wonder why we have so many 7mm flavors when the 7 RM is still so awesome. I mean a 195 gr 7mm going over 3k fps, that'll kill anything out to a very long ways off

I agree. How can the new 7PRC top this enough to warrant buying one along with all new components?
I don't need a new toy, when I have plenty of fun with the ones i have.

Those are insane speeds for a 7RM pushing 195’s. I think most guys see 2800-2900. I can barely push them to just under 3200 out my 26” barreled 28 Nosler. That’s with 80gr of Retumbo

It is insane. I was hoping for 2950. Little concerned about barrel life at 3046. Will validate it and save the load for longer range hunting.
Have another node 72.5 to 73 grains was running 2945-2952. Think I’ll make that my practice load.

Yup, barrel life will not be long on mine. I confirmed cold bore hits out to 800 and will mostly park this gun and use it just for hunting.

Damn impressive. I used to load a 180 at close to 3k and it was a hammer (target gun). I'd get about 900 rounds before it would start falling off in velocity and accuracy.
