7mm PRC short barrel?

Since I found this thread after I had already ordered my 18" barrel from Preferred Barrel Blanks I figured I'd share what little results I have from the first about 20 shots over the Christmas break. Most were some light reloads my buddy put together for me to begin to break in the barrel but I did shoot three shots of factory Precision Hunter ELD-Xs and three shots of factory Federal Premium Terminal Ascents. Velocities are listed below.

Wasn't shooting too much for groups as I wasn't in a great setup so that is still up in the air but definitely thrilled with the TA velocities and it's what I'm hoping to hunt with.

Factory Hornady Precision Hunter (175 gr ELD-X)

• 2,653 fps
• 2,632 fps
• 2,637 fps

Factory Federal Premium (170 gr Terminal Ascent)

• 2,888 fps
• 2,870 fps
• 2,866 fps

That's about what I was getting out of the factory Hornady Precision Hunter. I got about 2700fps out of the stuff Unknown Munitions loaded. 50fps per inch of barrel (from 3000 to 2700) is a lot more than I expected.
