I’ll have to take a look at my notes when I get back to them. I know I loaded it a tad slower to help with recoil, she’s not a very big person.

Last thing I want her to do is develop a flinch because the rifle is punishing her. Accuracy trumps magnum everyday!
My dad hand loaded my wife a 120 ttsx at 2550 and it doesnt even move her. That lower recoil makes for great control and 0 fear of the gun. She is excited to practice

Update, range today. 70 degrees no wind. labradar 20 shot string with barrel cooling. Average 2804 fps. average group 3 shot 1.125 average. 150 gr Rem PSP core lokt. 45 gr. H___ . Pretty good for a Browning Hells canyon speed. Straight production gun. I'm sure I can find a bullet it likes and close that up some. It will definatley hunt.

Took my (13 year old) son out one last time to make sure he was ready for his mule deer hunt that starts Saturday. Hornady custom lite 120 sst reduced recoil loads. Barely any recoil at all. 2750 fps average sighted in at 250 yards with 20" barrel. Basically good to hold dead on from 0-300 yards and first bubble in the scope is 350 yards. I'll probably keep him under 300 though. I'll add the picture here if he is lucky enough to harvest. Love the 7mm-08 Remington!

That is pretty fast for that length barrel and that ammo. We are getting 2680 (box is 2675) from a 22" Tikka barrel on the lot I bought a case of. That bullet gets hammered by wind. At 300 yards you will have almost 10 inches of drift in a 10 mph wind while at 250 the drift is only 6 inches in the same wind. Just something to think about. My son is 14 now and uses that ammo for practice on steel to get better at dialing and wind calling. The bullet does fine under 300 yards. He killed 7 deer with it the year we bought it for him (1 buck tag, 1 doe tag, and5 damage hunt tags) with the same ammo. Keep it off the shoulder or it will make a mess. Seems that the SST gives more blood shot than other bullets we've use in this caliber. No problem with penetration just lots of damage.

C’ mon Pharm! Me, several mule deer (my longest shot with the 7-08 was a mature buck at 475. Bullet broke a rib, bounced off the bottom of his spine and exited). One young elk calf on a depredation hunt, and several not-so-bright coyotes and jack rabbits, when opportunity presented itself.

162g ELDM leaving the muzzle at 2650. 206 yards. Buck antelope. Entered through the front shoulder, quartering to, found an exit in the back of the guts, but did not exit the hide, the bullet was under the hide just outside the exit in between the hide and the rear quarter on the opposing side.

If I could post videos I would, but in the video it appears that the hit was much further back than it was. If you look at my first picture of the entrance, you can see a ton of smaller holes around the entrance, I'm wondering if that bullet fragmented and fragments blew out the shoulder before the bulk of the bullet proceeded through the animal. I had trouble finding the exit before skinning because there were what appeared to be several small holes with blood on the shoulder. @Formidilosus ever seen this?

Incredible penetration and huge wound channel. This is the first animal I've shot with match bullets and I have to say I feel it almost caused too much damage. I wouldn't hesitate to use this combo on literally anything.

1st pic is entrance
2nd Pic is exit
3rd pic is what was recovered of the bullet
4th pic is all those additional holes I was talking about around the entrance.

This will be the same load and velocity my daughter will be using for a cow in November. No doubt about that performance!

Yea man. Antelope are small so the devastation was more exaggerated. But the amount of penetration and the wound channel were insane. I doubt I will get anything off that should besides maybe the shank lol.

We're actually shooting ELDX, so maybe won't be quite as dramatic, but my priority is a dead elk first and groceries next. ;)
