7mm-08 Rem success on big game

With the success of .223, 6.5, and 6mm/243 threads on big game, thought I’d show some love to oft forgotten 7mm-08.

Show and detail your results harvesting big game (deer, bear, elk, moose, African game) using the 7mm-08. Please detail bullet, MV, impact velocity, and whether hand load or factory ammo.

Everything but the axis dropped in place. Axis ran 30 yards.

Bull moose at 200 yard. Handloaded 140 federal trophy bonded tip. 2850 fps mv. No drama just a dead bull

Not that I’ve seen. I’m loading them over varget for 3 different rifles

Forgot about this one from a few years ago. 50 yards, 7-08 ar10. Same load of 150tgk but it was doing 2650 in this rifle.

Frontal shot, buck dropped in place.

I'll have to look through some pictures and see what I can find. I shot a 7mm-08 TC Encore for about 10 years and killed alot of deer with it. I figure I killed 3 or 4 per year with that rifle over those 10 years before I sold it. My buddy who I hunt with the most has a youth model ruger american in 7mm-08 that I don't know even guessing how many deer its killed.

My favorite load was a 140 grain ballistic tip over RL-16 running out there around 2850 fps and it did great.

The blood trail picture was from the first buck. I rattled and he came in bristled up grunting and shot him at 70 yards quartered away from me. Ran 50 yards throwing blood everywhere.

The doe I shot in the neck at about 80 yards because she was standing in tall grass blowing at me. I drug her out of the grass for pictures. DRT

The 8 point facing the camera got shot checking oak trees the first week of rifle season. DRT

The big deer I'm with my buddy got shot with that little ruger american compact I talked about before. Probably a core lokt or Fusion 140 grain also DRT

The doe I believe got shot with a 7mm08 or it may have been a 6.5 creedmoor. I can't remember exactly honestly.

The two bucks in the truck I shot the 7 point under the chin at 25 yards. He walked out literally under the tower I was sitting in and smelled me bouncing off to about 25 yards in a thicket of volunteer pines and bushes and stood there staring at me. He never moved a muscle after the shot.

The cow horn spike was right after the 7 point and I'd tried to get my kids to kill that spike all year. We'd watched him eat Granny's flowers one time too many, Granny told me the exact deer and had cell pics of him eating flowers. So he had to go. I shot him with a Fusion in the right shoulder and he ran a little 30 yard half moon death run.

The 6 point I shot at 200 yards and he stumbled 20 yards and piled up.

Two Hawaiian axis deer. Used reduced recoil ammo. Wouldn’t recommend. Took multiple shots on one but it was 400 yards. Rifle is a Ruger M77 MKii Compact. Love the rifle, upgraded the scope but don’t use it anymore.
