7mm-08 copper bullet

Hammer 131, Varget, Lapua brass have been a great combo. Getting 3000 fps in a 22" barrel, has been very effective on elk.

I guess I'm the oddball when it comes to Hammers. I tried the 131 THHs and could do no better than 1.5". The 120 HHs shot under 1", but not as well, or as consistently, as the 120 TTSXs, plus they were a bit more pricey.

I've been shooting everything from mice to moose with the 120 TTSX, since way back when Barnes first dropped them. I get 3170 from 47.7 CFE 223. The last few years I've been really liking the 139 LRX. Big Game at 2850 is the most accurate mono out of my favorite Montana.

I’ve had good luck with the 131 HH in a 7-08, including on elk. I’m currently shooting the 120 HH in that rifle with exceptional accuracy.

I think all of the bullets mentioned here will work well, so no bad choices. Let your rifle decide.

Barnes and Hammer are great, but don’t overlook these. Since your rifle will ultimately decide which it prefers, make sure it sees the full menu. You can get a box for testing without breaking the bank.

If you decide to step up in size you can get cosmetic blems here.

We use 120 ttsx in my lady’s 7mm-08 and she has flattened mule deer bucks and does, whitetail and elk with no problems. Her rifle shoots them fantastic so we haven’t bothered switching to anything else

@Tradchef
I've been using the 120 TTSX, for about 15 years now, on everything from mice to moose. My primary rifle is a Montana with 22" bbl, and it loves that bullet with CFE223, at 3170.
The last 4 years I've also been loading the 139 LRX with Big Game to 2920, and it too is a real performer on game.
