7 SAUM N568

Does anyone have a starting load for N568 in a 7 SAUM with berger 168 VLD-H?

I have checked various places and can't seem to find anything.

Maybe send an email off the Berger? I picked up an 8lb jug of 568 a few months ago on a whim but haven't tried it out yet. I'd be interested to hear what Berger says as I also have a 7 SAUM.

I’d highly doubt you will be able to get enough in the case to build pressure or achieve any velocity w a 168. Just my experience with N568 in larger 7mm cartridges and 180’s. That being said, you should be perfectly fine starting at 68 grains

Way too slow of powder, even for 180gr bullets. I'd suggest N555, N560 with a 168.

565 is great powder as well for 168’s.

I've used H1000 with 180s in the Saum, but it was not the best performer with a 162 eldm. Figured 565 being same burn, would also be a bit on slow side.

Just recently did load dev for a 20” saum shooting 168’s for a member here and 565 was the best performer for me. Beat out 4350, and 555. I personally shoot a lot of 565 in my shorter bbl rifles and it seems to be a solid performer no matter the caliber on a saum based case. It’s my go to for my personal 7 saum shooting 180’s in a 22” barrel. Everything you posted is an excellent choice, just thought I’d throw one more in the mix.

Run it! Been running 565 in 21” 7mm Mega’s w 180’s and it works great. Pretty much the same case capacity of the PRC.

Nice. Im building a 7 saum on a Tikka action right now. Bartien 26” 1-8 barrel. Looks like some N565 will be on order soon.

Throat it long, you will love it. H1000 did really well for us too

Yes that is the plan to throat it for either the 180 or 184 hybrids. Waiting for my brass to arrive tomorrow to make some dummy rounds.

Big fan of the 7 SAUM w/ the 168 VLDH. I have used H4350 for years. Mostly because it's what I had. Moved to H1000 recently. Pushing 2950 fps+ out of a 21" Proof tube. Still 2+ grains under book max.

I know not much help for your OP but both H1000 and H4350 are fairly easy to find. H4350 yielded great SDs for me. Plenty of juice for elk and deer. This year I'll be using H1000.
