I thought a 30-6.5prc would be pretty neat. Have a velocity edge on 308win and still load well for a short action.

The sad ironic thing is, it would be easier to wildcat the 6.5 back to 300 because the 300 RCM brass is practically nonexistent.Haha! But it'd be way cooler if someone wasted a bunch of time trying to wildcat a round that already exists.

Interesting. When I first commissioned this rifle for an upcoming multispecies hunt, I planned for 168 or 175 ABLR's. After a failed attempt to get either to shoot in my 7RM, I just ordered some Hammer 153 HHT's. Are you using H4350-N555 type powder with the 155's?I have a 7prcw with a 21" barrel for hunting. I've only shot monos through it (145-162gr). 145s are over 3000fps, 150-155s are about 2925fps and 162s are just under 2900 fps. Really easy to load, very little tuning at all. I can run loads in 2.95 for short action or a little over 3" in long action (I have a Tikka so the switch is minimal). The bullets seated longer have a slight advantage in velocity.
I used the 153gr HHTs for 3 hunts this fall (antelope, elk, oryx). I used 55.5gr of N555. I've developed loads with 145gr and 162gr HHTs, 155 Hammer Hunters, 150gr and 160gr CX, and 145gr LRX. The only bullet I didn't like was the 160gr LRX. All but the 160 LRX were shooting less than 1" moa at 200 yards within 15 rounds.Interesting. Ya I was mostly thinking 6.5 prc brass is easy to find and 300 rcm not so muchHaha! But it'd be way cooler if someone wasted a bunch of time trying to wildcat a round that already exists.
