Already have a .300 win mag with a 26” barrel but I wanting to start hunting suppressed more often. Am I crazy for wanting a to add a 7 PRC to the safe with a 20” or 22” barrel? Thinking either an X bolt (all of my hunting rifles are x-bolts) or a Tikka T3X and doing some upgrades to it.

I don’t think so. More guns is always more better! In all seriousness I would rather have a 20 or 22 inch 7mm PRC than a 300 win mag with a 26 inch barrel since I primarily run a suppressor.

I like it better than the 300. But there is nothing it can do that a 6.5 prc cant do with less recoil. Thats my use case though, it might make more sense for you.

I have a 7 PRC X bolt and I love it! I can consistently hit targets at 600 yards with factory ammo and I’ve even hit a target at 900 yards with factory ammo.

As an FYI, though it’s a bit too powerful for Whitetail deer hunting at closer ranges. My buddy was using it and accidentally killed two Whitetail does in one hunt (which is legal in Alabama). He intended to kill the first one, but the bullet passed through and killed another doe 50 yards behind it. The first dough dropped in the second one, made it to the edge of the greenfield and dropped.

I turned my Tikka 300WM into a 7PRC. Still kicks like a mule, is expensive and mostly sits in the safe. Personally, my 6.5 Creeds and under get all the range time and are all deadly out past 800yds at my altitude.

In short, I agree with 6.5PRC for a top end that's still deadly out past twice the distance we should be hunting. Tikka all day long and twice on Sunday.
