Shot my Seekins PH2 and my Christensen Ridgeline 7 PRCs yesterday. Both were shot with a Hyperion K installed.

Temp was 36, 5500 feet.

PH2, 26" barrel:
Federal 175 ELD-X - 2976
Terminal Ascent 170 - 3067
Both sub MOA, ELD-X shot a little better in this gun

Christensen Arms Ridgeline 22" barrel:
Federal 175 ELD-X - 2926
Terminal Ascent 170 - 3015
Both sub MOA, Terminal Ascent was more accurate in this gun.

Loving both these federal loads.

That Federal 170 T/A at over 3000 fps should be a real hammer for elk.

Fierce Carbon rogue 22”
Hornady 175 eld-x
2771 fps with an es of 53
1.591 moa 15 round group
Honestly thought the speeds would be higher, but seems like Hornady’s backed off a bit since they first launched. Have some Federal 175’s on the way and hopefully get out in the next week or two to try those

I bet you will like them... Those speeds posted are a bit slow (new barrel?) but I'm betting you will be around 2900 with the federals.

Yeah 35 rounds down the barrel so far. I was more hesitant about the fierce than the actual cartridge, but the gun shoots lights out.

If I was doing 3 shot groups they’ve all been around 1/2 - 3/4 moa. I’m even ok with the speed, but who doesn’t like a little more.

Hopefully we can soon find the 175gr terminal ascent up in Canada, I’m sure it’s out there but I can’t seem to find it

No 175s in 7 PRC terminal ascent - the TAs are 170 or 155

I’m getting about 100 fps more with the Federal ELDx vs the Hornady out of a Seekins Element with a 20in barrel. And I’m seeing some minimal bolt sticking with the Hornadys when I cycle. I’m most definitely sticking with the Federals at this point. Anyone want to buy my last 3 or 4 boxes of Hornady 175 ELDx’s?
Federal: 2893 FPS
Hornady: 2792 FPS

I had over pressure signs with Hornady as well - my hypothesis is that they are a little too long… I noticed when I would try and eject a loaded Hornady ELD-X cartridge in my CA that it was super hard to remove and there were marks on the bullet that looked like it was in the lands. Federal is shorter and haven’t had over pressure issues.

Wanted to start a thread on velocities with factory ammo only. It appears that this cartridge is suppose to maintain velocity even with shorter barrels so I thought for those of us eager to drop below the 24" mark it would be good to see what you could expect. Please list barrel manuf, twist, rifling, length and ammo.

Bartlein #3, 5R, 1-8 twist @ 22"
175 ELDX
I am about 20 rounds fired and at the following. 2873 avg, 11 SD, 23 ES.....

I'd really like to stay on topic and keep this about data as much as possible.
I have a proof 22" on my custom build. I'm getting about the same out of my precision hunter and hornady match. The outfitter is averaging a little fast at about 2900fps

Taking this out to the range today and will follow up with some results/data.
Just a quick update-

Out of my 18" Bartlein with a Banish Backcountry suppressor with about 175-225 rounds through it, I got on average 2675 fps with the Hornady Precision Hunter 175 ELD-X factory load. To contrast that, from the Federal Premium 175 ELD-X factory load, I got 2778 fps average.

So, for a couple quarters more per shot, I gained 100 fps.

Cheers!

finally got out to try the federal 175 eldx today
Fierce Carbon Rogue 22”
2883 fps avg
.662 MOA 4 shot group then adjusted the scope and fired one more at dot.
Shot out to 700 to confirm and so far really liking these federals.

Nosler 175gr ABLR on the other hand have been terrible, roughly the same velocity as federal but managed my best group with those today and it was 2.265 MOA.

Bumping this thread.
Wonder if anyone has been out shooting 7prc ELD-x by Hornady and Federal?
I got my 7prc (tikka action/proof carbon 22”) put together and just trying to decide if I should go with ELD-X (I want to use this bullet for hunting as I’ve been very happy with it in other calibers).
Federal vs Hornady. Any real difference?
Thanks

Go with federal. Real difference in velocity.

Federal for sure, Hornady averaged 2776 fps and about .75-1 MOA, federal averaged 2883fps and .5-.75 MOA

I started hand loading because I didn’t like the ES of factory loads. I went from 2873 to 3024 fps with an ES of 13 and tight groups. The 22” barrel turns out to be a great choice, it’s hammering now. Using Reloder 26, 175 ELDX and Hornady Brass.
