I hadn’t even thought about primers - do reloaders need special high pressure primers for this cartridge? It would seem so.

I have been curious about this but I dont believe ive seen a solid answer. That was my prime concern with 6.8 fury when intro'd. It seems like the case head being more solid helps mitigate to a degree but I dont understand why there wouldnt be at least some impact from higher pressure through the flash hole.

When I was at sheep show I asked the federal rep and he said they are aren’t using any special primers I can’t remember if he said large rifle or magnum.

I assumed as much but i wonder to what extent they are or aren't more prone to piercing primers compared to a brass case at 65k PSI,

Yea I guess time will tell. I’m a little more optimistic about this cartridge and hope
It takes off I would love to push a 195 Berger out of a 20” barrel at 24” barrel speeds like is being advertised.

i think thats a great thought.. and if they aren't using something special, how are they doing it then. There has to be something different they arent sharing.

Because primers don't pierce at 65kpsi. Or even 80kpsi. If you're piercing primers you are so overpressure it's crazy.

my gripe with the influencers is just that, they are influencers. people paid to push a product and the massive hype. the day it came out it was like my whole youtube and instagram was filled with nothing but 7BC. not because its great or anything but because Federal paid a bunch of people to push their new round. This isnt a specific annoyance to Federal either, the whole idea of social media influencers just annoys me in general. It becomes a trend overnight for no other reasons other than the fact some dude you like to watch says its good... while being paid to say its good.

Remington did a patent in the 70's on steel cases and the russians have been doing it for a long time too. There plenty of 5.56 and pistol ammo in steel cases as well. Its not a new concept at all. and sure it can handle higher case pressures.. big deal. you can push brass to that too if you only want one shot out of it. making it no different than this steel case.

My issue is not so much with the round itself. maybe i didnt make it super clear.. i guess what im getting at is this is just a huge hype game thats caught Federal a lot of heat. In trying to combat that heat they are getting they are putting out videos that dont actually address the issues. Rather than coming out and being honest about it or just saying it’s not a round that has been designed to reload. But dont put out some shit to try and gaslight people and not actually address the concerns, such as resizing. how hard would it be to throw a comparator gauge on the case to show a shoulder bump?
So why participate in social media if you are going to complain about influencers? You are inviting yourself to be influenced by having SM profiles in the first place.

The real question is what percentage of hunter are working off the same box of ammo they bought in the 2000s. I beat that number is higher then reloaders.

I know a few myself. I’m the only person I know that reloads anything. At least family and friends.
Which is fine, but then I'd argue the 700+yard shots this cartridge is designed for is not for them.
7-08 is going to be much more up their alley for a 7mm that you never shoot but hunting with a weekend a year.

Seems like its likely bolt face, firing pin specific on what it takes but there sure are a lot of people that talk about piercing primers on the internet and ive seen a handful in person. I've never had it happen on a centerfire i load for but I also stop once i see velocities or other pressure signs and don't feel the need to load things until pressure signs are outrageously obvious either.

Agree. Same could be said for 280AI and all the magnum 7s but there sure are a shitload of 7 mags out there sold to such people.

If the primers are off the shelf, I wonder why they haven’t mentioned that - everything seems quite hush hush for a cartridge we are supposed to be getting excited about.

This must be the only topic I’m not being censored out of today by mods. I feel so lucky.

because there are lots of other things i follow that arent influencers? and even the ones i follow not everything is a promotion.

and clearly im not being influenced. we live in a world of shills, kinda hard to avoid unless you live under a rock.

is that really all you got out of what i posted and whats been discussed?
