6mm prc

My sizer is a sac, obviously with proper size bushings, sizer is a wilson for my arbor pressthat they changed to proper stem

Does anyone have experience with a 6mm-06 or 243 Super Rock Chucker and the 6PRC for comparison? I noticed case water capacity is very very close - the PRC is probably a bit more efficient and a bit more velocity I’m guessing?

A 1:10 243 Super Rock Chucker barrel fell out of the sky - so I’m limited to 100 gr bullets, but it might be a gateway drug to a PRC or other big 6mm with a faster twist. Lol

Just spitballin but seems like the difference between 6mm-06 and 6 PRC would come down more to barrel to barrel variance, brass choice, and a given load pressure/powder selection than notable differences between cartridges.

That seems reasonable - I bet you’re right.

As far as velocities go, your probably correct. But there is something about a short fat cartridge that makes them easy to reload for and inherently accurate.
I love the short fat ones as well. If someone was building on a short action or had no interest in vintage cartridges I can definitely see the appeal of the PRC.

I haven’t even seen the 243 SRC barrel yet - it’s a medium weight 28” Douglas barrel, that hopefully turns out to be accurate enough to shoot minute of antelope with a fixed 12x scope. Very much a vintage combination.

I’m looking to round out my collection with a lightweight 6mm (smallest approved in Colorado). I’m thinking a 16.5” suppressed 6prc with 109 eldms and h1000, hoping to end up around 5 pounds before optics and suppressor. Has anybody gone this short and if so, speeds?

Im doing a very similar build, same bullet but 17" barrel but will probably try different powders than you and I have no target weight but should be prettydang light. My PBB barrel should be showing up any day and hopefully my rokstock will be soon too since I ordered on day 1, got everything else ready to go!

I have other powders, I just like 1000. Curious to hear your speeds.

I have the little brother, 6 Creed, with a mild load shooting the 109s at 2880 right now out of a 16” barrel. I’d imagine you’ll be around 3100 or so with the 6PRC? I guess I should probably build one to just to be sure…

I’m shooting 109’s at 3150fps out of a 24” barreled 6PRC with H1000. If that helps with any estimates 👊🏼

Figured it would be faster. Have you tried N570? I have 8lbs of it that needs to be put to use
I actually have 10 rounds loaded up with 61gr. N570 (that’s a full case) to test out. Just haven’t done it yet.

You can get up to 3200+ with H1000 and 58gr. I just don’t really push my cartridges too hard.

I shot 108’s last year at 3230-3260 with 4831SC

59.5 of N565 is sending 108's an average of 3220 out of my 20" Osprey. I'm on the edge of pressure I'd like to try another powder that gets me to 3200 with more wiggle room. I'd like to try 570 but it's currently unobtanium locally.

Dang that’s hot! What brass?

Oh yeah that was just trying to find pressure. Brass is ADG. At that charge I think 1 round out of 15 showed very slight primer flow but was tough to tell. Very faint ejector marks but this particular rifle seems to give them regardless. I Didnt want to push any more so dropped 58 and that's where it currently lives averaging 3105. CCI 250 primers.

This is only 5 shots but this barrel has produced a few of these. Of course some 5 shot groups are larger approaching 3/4". Still a killer combo nonetheless.

Nice! I’m building another right now with a 20”. I’m hoping my velocity will be right about 3100 also.
