6mm Creedmoor hunting rifle (factory only)

I have a Ruger American gen 1 6 creed and have been really happy with it. I replaced the stock with an MDT Field stock and changed over to AICS mags. That made a world of difference, feeds substantially better. It’s not a light weight gun, but I love it. I shoot 103 grain ELD-X and have killed mule deer, whitetails, and coyotes out to 350 yards and it lays them down every time . Extremely happy for a $480 rifle.

It’s crazy to me how many folks still sleep on the 103 ELDX. It’s a little monster in animals.

Ended up buying a Tikka T3x Stainless literally threaded in 6.5 creedmoor yesterday. Got some 40 eldms.

um rings and 3-9 Accupoint going on top. Green mil dot reticle. Hopefully be able to start practicing my holds in the near future after I get my dope.

That’s a crazy good trigger that comes with that rifle. I’m impressed after dealing with the flex-0- magic stock problem.
Have several of the CZ 600 Alpha's, first thing done to each out of the box, saw off some of the fore-end and put JB Weld in the partitioned off areas. Takes care of the "flex-o-magic stock".
A couple of the fore-end remnants laying below in the picture.
And yes, the trigger is awesome!

I decided to change out the stock, annd CZ sold me theOEM stock that comes standard on the Lux model. This worked for me ans I did not want the Lux rifle set up with the iron sights.
I wanted to have the barrel and bolt end swap capability proudly presented on the CZ web site, but that didn’t go well, so I still have the unused OEM stock to do something with.
The Lux stock is just a beautiful chunk of a tree, and I am quite impressed with the rifle as a whole.
Maybe the lawyers will figure out how to stupid proof the switch barrel so gun owners understand the importance of the two screws that keep us from shooting the barrel off the action. Tide pod eaters ruin everything.

Why did you cut off the front of the forestock as opposed to a different stiffening fix?

Or did you put a rod through it, bed it and put the end back on the stock? You have me thinking about a fix.
Lots to like about the barreled action. Mag lock, 60 degree bolt throw, very accurate threaded barrel built on pic ring mount, and I really like the safety after I go comfortable with it. You solved the only bad feature I came up with.

1. It was ugly (to long & floppy)

2. Shorter fore-end made it look better proportioned and easier to stiffen up with JB Weld. No rod.

2+. The 600 Plus (available since Sept. 2025) is barrel interchangeable within their 3 actions. No barrels available yet.

And none on their way either, apparently.

I sure would like to see a profile of that rifle as a finished project. I cannot picture it.

So I have these hunting rifles:

2x 30-06
2x 308
1x 270 win
1x 30-30 Win
1x 223 1-7 Twist AR-15

I’m wanting a light recoiling round to hunt deer with on my property in Kentucky. I’ve settled on the 6mm creed shooting 108 ELD-Murders. My property is unique as you can see 1,000 yards in every direction (you’d have to see the property to understand, it’s an old strip mine up in the mountains). I watched an huge 10 pointer walk away from me at 550 last year. After reading the 6mm/243 thread here, it’s pretty much convinced me.

The Ruger American Gen 2 seems to be the only factory option that meets my criteria without going custom but I have read horror stories with people having feeding issues which is no good where i hunt. I’m wanting the gun to be sub 7lbs before my optic (3-9 Trijicon Accupoint with Mil dot reticle). What are the odds tikka comes out with a 6mm creed next shot show in the stainless lite or should I just risk the Gen 2 Ruger? Custom really isn’t an option financially for me and I don’t want to rebarrel any of the current rifles I have. TIA. Trying to stay under 800 dollars for the rifle. I also do not reload so a 1-8 twist tikka isn’t what I want.

Also considered the 6mm arc howa mini , but would really love to stick w the 6 creed.
Give the new Savage 110s a look. They're chambering in all the Creedmoors and the new models appear to have some good improvements
