6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

I don’t think I’d want to shoot a 100lb whitetail with anything more than the 95’s moving any faster than 2700.

I bet Sierra would’ve sold a zillion 95’s if the 6ARC was around.
My dad spend this season hunting with his 6 arc shooting 95s. i think he is about ready to sell all of his other rifles lol. fantastic little combo

With the eld/tmk. Seems like more velocity=more violence irrespective of caliber. The 77tmk at 3000fps was much more violent than a 77tmk at 2650. Especially true when any bone is hit (even ribs).
That's pretty much universally true with any caliber and bullet.

I mean, given enough velocity, you can even make a .338 caliber mono perform almost as well (violently) as a 6mmARC.

*the above comment was only to draw out the wallopers lurking this thread*

I’m talking violent though. I stopped shooting deer at close range with a 77tmk/22 creed because the wound was so wide so fast that I was wrecking both shoulders and I wasn’t even hitting them, just catching an onside rib did it. Iv never seen that kind of damage even on fast velocity controlled expansion bullets. So I don’t think it’s universally true.

Did you have a good load built for the 77 tmk? Just about to start load development for that bullet in the creed

Velocity matters...for example (not a 6mm example) a 165 gr sierra gameking out of a hot loaded 22" .300 win mag is usually very much more destructive compared to a 165 gr gameking out of a 16" .308 win on white tail.

I'm having a 20" barrel in 6 Creedmoor being spun up right now to go on a "parts I have lying around" gun lol. Will be handloading and probably starting with the 108 ELD-M. If all goes well it'll get field tested on Mule deer next season. For the sake of curiousty, has anyone shot game with the 104 Hammer HHT?

Based off what I witnessed with the 108 eldm at impact velocities from 2400 to 2900fps on deer and antelope…. I have zero plans of switching.
We killed several mule deer and a couple elk with the ELDM this year and I was happy with results. I was hoping to see what happens with an impact velocity around 2,800 FPS on an elk but didn't get that chance.

I'd like to hear about your experience with 2,900 FPS impact velocity on deer/antelope using the 108 ELDM

That shot was an antelope buck this season. Behind the shoulder broadside. Golf ball size exit. Lungs were destroyed. Buck made it 30 yards and fell over.

I keep them pretty close range but my kids were raised on 243 shooting 87g vmax
