It’s also a customer service nightmare for the end retailer and Hornady.

No matter how large you make the required twist disclaimer people will miss it and blame the store or Hornady

Reducing those CS calls by not leaning into a relative niche that would hurt your in house cartridge.

Wife got a spike with the 6ARC, ~100M broadside through both lungs and a chunk of the heart. He went 40 yards and crumpled.

95 TMK @ 2456 fps impact velocity. The bullet exited and left a trail of lung chunks. On a side note, he ended up just 50 yards downhill from the car so I decided to gut and drag him to supposedly save time. Sh*t sucked and I don't know why I did that vs gutless

Any experience with a slower twist 243 and those bullets?
Faster than a 10 but slower than a 9.
I’ve gotten varied outcomes with a cleaning rod from 9.125, 9.5, 9.75. Thanks

I tried for a bit to get them to shoot in a 9.25 twist. 2moa was about the best I could do with them. 95gr NBT and 95gr Berger classic hunters shot much better. I put together a 6 creed and then quit trying the 103’s in the 243.

First season hunting with this setup and it’s proving to be an extremely accurate and effective setup. Shot a bull elk a few weeks ago at 35 yards and he also dropped where he stood.

Deadly. I just shot a northern whitetail yesterday, he was quartering away at just under 250 yards, and with a 162gr ELD-X from my T3X 7mag I didn’t get a pass through, and found the bullet in the opposite hide. 6mm’s are impressive and I will only be using my 6 arc on deer from now on

This was a 200 yard shot on a young bull. This image is the entry. It pretty much created shrapnel from bone as it’s everywhere on this shoulder. Tons of meat loss but I’m very impressed. Will tear down the offside shoulder tonight.

No pics yet. I finally closed the deal on a nice WT buck today. .243, 103 ELD-X, 100 yards straight down hill, 2950fps, Tikka super light 1-8 twist.

The bullet was right behind the shoulder, exited, and absolutely destroyed the upper stomach, entry, and exit in a real strange way. It was a “perfect” shot and I have not seen the stomach explode like that with stomach matter blown out the exit, all over the liver and inside. Tons of bloodshot meat on exit side too. No “thwack” sound either.

This is my first go with the .243 from years with a .308 (as my primary WT gun). Not being critical at all just new learning. Behaved very differently than my .308 or 6.5, but it is a sample of 1 and the dear was dead within 25-yards (and tumbled/slid many more).

I shoot a lot of animals every year with .300wsm, .308, and a 6.5CM. This seemed way more violent, but it could absolutely have been the angle or just an odd set of circumstances. I will be experimenting more with the .243 for sure.

Velocity. Velocity combined with eldm and eldx makes for a wide wound. This is why I don’t shoot closer range deer with a 22 creed anymore. Seems to be the case with the smaller eld bullets

Kill 9. Tikka 6 Creed and 115 Berger.

6x6 bull elk.

I’m not really sharing too much in the way of hunt photos publicly anymore, other than some select photos for folks to see kills, wounds, etc. I did want folks to able to see the full exit on this bull…

Yardage: 312.

Impact Velocity: Roughly 2,200.

Shot Position: Prone off backpack. Bino harness rear rest.

Distance travelled After Hit: Hunched forward and fell to front knees. Before he tipped over I put another at the base of his skull. Flopped over and didn’t move again.

Impact Location: First shot entered the scapula, exited between the offside 3rd and 4th ribs. Exited the offside hide as well. Lots of blood on ground and on offside hide. First shot was fatal and bullet fragments were lodged in the spine. Second shot hit the spine and fragmented, largest piece was found lodged in the skull. Bullet fragments all throughout the skull cavity.

Got my first kill with my tikka 6 creed that I built this spring. 530 yards on a muley buck. 108 ELDM. Impact velocity 2070. First hit was a little back so adjusted for the wind and sent a second at a hard quartering to angle. Borderline frontal. Front should was destroyed and the hole had liquified lungs coming out of it. Dropped after the second shot. Very impressed with the eldm and huge help being able to spot impacts and make adjustments.

They are stupidly accurate and seem consistent in flight so far.

For killing I’d say in what I’ve seen so far they have been fine. In the 6mm flavors I’ve killed with, I might be giving up a bit of advantage to the 95 TMK and 103 ELDX.

It’s only 9 kills though so hard to really make any strong claims for or against them.

I’m using a 7.5 twist steel barrel.

I’m very interested to see what that TMK will be like. I know it’ll be super effective on game! The 108 ELD is pretty nasty itself.
