6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

Anyone out here try the 80gr ELD-VT bullets yet? I like the idea of a slightly smaller and faster bullet in my AR platform. From my reading it should perform similarly to the ELD-X.

Designed to perform closer to the vmax IIRC.

Eld-vt works but just too soft at high velocities. If tempered down it could be an option. I post about a deer I killed with 100gr eld-vt in that thread in post above.

I've got a tikka .243 thats hammering with 95 gr hornady SST's at about 2925 FPS. Anyone have a bad experience with these? I have read that they behave similarly to an eld-m.
my only bad experiences with ssts has been accuracy, terminally they're great. I think they're a little more violent than the eld-m but I don't have enough animals to prove it.

Son's first elk last Friday here in Arizona. Seekins Ph3 6mm Creedmoor with Hornady 105 grain bthp doing 2900 at the muzzle. 265 yards. One shot to the high shoulder and dropped where she stood. didn't have time to skin it out to see the damage because I had to leave for Utah right away. Dropped her off at the processor and let them do the skinning that I typically do myself. But it performed well and the boy is pumped. brooks elk 1.jpegbrooks elk 2.jpgbrooks elk 3.jpg

Loading up some 6 creed rounds with H4350 and various killers, 95 NBT, 105 VLDH, and 108 EH.
Hodgdon data goes to 44.0 for 95 grain VLD.
Nosler data for the 95 NBT and H4350 seems on the low side, they go up to a max of 40.5 for the 95 grain.

Thinking of going up to 43.5 with the 95 NBT. That too much pressure?

I would just load one at 43 and see what pressure looks like.

They’re pretty nasty on coyotes. I’ve had results ranging from tiny pin hole entrances and no exit to fist size holes on entry and 2ish inch exit holes.

I might try them on a whitetail in a few weeks. Still undecided.
