Anyone else notice weatherby low key just updated their twist for the 240 weatherby on some of their rifles? It’s supposed to be 1:7.5
That’s pretty cool, may be my next toy. Would really surpass the 6mm Creedmoor
They also updated some of the .243

It is tipped but its not a TMK. Different guts more explosive.

Obviously you have a direct line to them, do you have any insight as to why it wouldn’t be a TMK. I was sure hoping this would be the year we would see a heavy 6mm TMK. I’m feeling a bit let down.

I don't have a direct line with them. It's what they told me at the shot. If I had a direct line, there would be 120 TMKs

Wouldn’t that be way too fast? The 100 gr loads are around 3200 FPS, that’s an RPM over 307,000.
240wby 64g case capacity. It'll only be a 100-150fps faster than middle 6creed. Prc holds 68gr. There's only 175-200fps between my 20in prc and 20in creed. 7.5tw is perfect in my opinion.

Anything over 3120 breaks the 300,000 threshold in a 7.5 twist so it just seems like a weird move by weatherby. All their current factory loads are in the 3300-3500 range and they don’t offer any 20 inch barrels in it that I know of so they’ll all be well over that threshold.

The 6 UM is achieving more velocity than the 240 weatherby and I don’t hear any complaints coming from 6 UM users concerning rpm.

The barrel twist combined with the velocity is the issue. I’m sure most arnt running the 6 UM with a 1:7.5 And even then most won’t have problems but the risk of blowing bullets is pretty high for a company to build factory rifles in that twist combined with that chambering.

A pointed 107smk has better bc, shorter bearing, very accurate and extremely consistent inside lot #s. I think it's a better bullet than the 108 eldm in most mannerisms but terminal.
I find that very interesting. I haven’t used the 107 for about 20 years but it was stellar then and it wasn’t pointed.
I assume you’re talking about factory pointed like the 80s are now?

I’m about to start work with a new 6 BR and can’t get enough Bergers to really make it worthwhile, maybe I should start with the 107 Sierra

Sorry but one more question, how do they handle going transonic, we shoot at a mile about four times a year, and the rivalry is pretty intense
