Son is 6’9” and starting to pick up a back packing habit. Looking for 20-30* bag. Mummy or not. Main use will be 3 season hiking and backpacking. Prefer an “off the shelf” option in the $300 zip code but may have to spring for something custom.

What say ye?

I'm 6'8" and I use Big Agnes anthracite mummy, it's rated for 6'6", but I also don't sleep fully extended (does anyone?).
I sleep on my side with my knees slightly bent and it works for the amount of time I spend in it.

I'm 220lbs, milage may vary if built like a offensive linemen.

REI Magma. Comes in 9 sizes as well as 30 deree or 15 degree versions and goes on sale twice a year right in your 300 price range. Great bag as well, I have both temp ratings and really like them. Not sure how long the long version is as I am 5 '7''.

Checked it out, looks like they have a 77'' so 6'5''. WM makes a 7' length but it will be more than $300. Good luck with the search ,hopefully there are a few more legit options out there.

I’m 6’8” and I’ve spent far too many nights in a stone glacier bag with not enough room. Great bag, but rated for 6’5” or something like that, and I can’t comfortably get the mummy hood over my head.

I’ll be buying a western mountaineering bag this winter. Been holding out for a sale price, but really hard to find on sale.

Just a thought, but if you have someone that can sew, making a quilt isn’t terrible. That’s the route I went. Climashield for insulation needs little to no quilting, and your choice of outer material (I went with hyperD). I found a random guy on Instagram who did the sewing and it came out great!

That's interesting and neat idea.

Do you know how much it weighs? and how tight i packs up? I dont want to goa true XL because of how much space sleeping bags take up.
