Since it’s my thread and don’t mind a bit of a derail…and digiscoping is a concern

Anyone else have comparison pics to share? Not my best. Montana prairie winds never help. And yardage to me is important and often left out. Need it to stay relative

Think this was 1340 yards. Doubt max power. The S2 Meopta. A touch of auto edit but no crop. View attachment 359584
Personally I don’t feel you can judge anything really by a digiscoped pic, unless all is equal with camera and conditions etc.

This is a real fun debate... I had the kowa 77 and 55 at the same time. I absolutely loved the view of the 77 over the 55. I could only justify 1 so that is what I kept. Then I packed it around abs debated on that decision. If only kowa would make a 66 with the 77/88 eyepiece, I would be sold.

This is close to 1000yds if I recall correctly. Kowa 773 with phone scope (TE11 eyepiece). Assumed full zoom also a frame of a video vs photo.

I’d argue really tough to compare photos. So much goes into it. Phone/camera. Outside conditions. Digital zoom to reduce circle sillohette, etc. will be fun to see !

I personally prefer the Leica APO 65 25-50x eyepiece. I’ve digiscoped with both and like the more natural colors Leica has. The Swarovski HD 65 is a great spotter though! I’d say for weight, clarity, and digiscoping, the Leica APO 65 with the 25-50 eyepiece will give you a hell of a run!

Ill have to agree with tdhanses about digiscoping and comparisons. You would need to have your two scopes side by side and go back and forth between them taking pictures and video with a remote. Wind, lighting, stability and a plethora of other conditions can make any scope look good or bad on any given day. But since you asked for some digiscoped pictures then ill play along.

This picture is a few years old and I dont remember if I was using my old Swarovski ATM 65 with 25x50 eyepiece or if I had moved on to the Swarovski ATX 65 with 25x60 power. This June summertime buck would bed down then shake his head and move his ears trying to keep the flys off himself. Then he would move up the mountain about 80 yards and repeat the same scenario over and over until he was a mere 200 yards from me. I was caught in the open but was trying not to move and he kept staring at me not quite sure what I was until the rain came down. At this point I got up and quickly moved to my tent about 100 yards above me. I looked back and he was getting out of town. Ive also got great video of him. I think these scopes take better video than pictures.

I was kinda looking into the sun as it was setting during this picture. I was actually stalking this buck during archery season and when I got to 130 yards from him in his bed my legs cramped up. For 20 minutes I rolled around on the ground trying to be quiet and waiting for the cramps to subside so that I could finish the stalk but as I was dying in the sage brush and grass he got up and fed down the mountain looking in my direction. When he got to 365 yards my cramps quit and I was able to get pictures and video. Apparently I made noise during my long cramp session and he knew I was there. He walked out of my life forever.

Mhopper5, earth frequency does not bother it. Wind bothers it. That tripod is meant to be minimalist and about as lightweight as you can get. The scope works fine on any type of tripod. So you are not stuck with skinney legged tripods. Fatrascal

This might happen sooner than later. Could even have the pure fluorite glass. 🤞🏼

This was a long thread but I enjoyed following it since I’m in the market and debating some of the very things discussed here. I was leaning toward a zeiss dialyt but believe it is more inferior than I originally thought. With that said, I don’t know what to get now.

Just get a Kowa and you’ll be happy.
