I want to share my experience with 60-Inch Club so others know what to expect.

We hunted with them in 2022 and had a successful hunt. A buddy and I both killed bull moose. That said, most of the useful information we had came from the hunter who went the year before us, not from Troy or Linda. We didn’t really use the training videos, and communication was minimal, but we were fortunate and made it work.

One major issue that year was transportation. The flight company Troy was using fell through (pilot canceled or otherwise became unavailable), and we were forced to fly through Arrowhead Outfitters instead. That cost my buddy and me an additional $3,500 each — $7,000 total — on top of what we had already paid. While the hunt was successful, it ended up costing far more than expected.

Fast forward to booking another hunt for 2027. We placed a $2,000 deposit — two and a half years before the actual hunt. After booking, we received no information — no GPS coordinates, no training materials, and no meaningful communication.

Based on our prior experience, I asked for one specific contract change: if the hunt was canceled due to the outfitter or pilot (not us), we would receive a full refund. Troy was unwilling to do that. I also specifically discussed this with Linda on the phone, and she said the deposit would be returned if the spot was rebooked. Now, they are completely going back on that.

I’ve been on several Alaskan hunts, and in every contract I’ve seen, it typically states that if the hunt is canceled due to the outfitter or pilot, the client receives a full refund. That is a standard expectation, and I would expect the same here — if the issue is on them, not me.

In hindsight, I understand that I should have had this written into the contract before placing the deposit. Even so, based on our prior experience and the lack of communication, I just had an uneasy feeling about how this would go.

At that point, I asked for our deposit back. We still had not received any information or preparation materials, and no work had been done on our hunt. He refused to refund the $2,000. I understand that we signed a contract and that legally he may be able to keep the money, but it says a lot about how business is handled — especially when the hunt will simply be rebooked for someone else.

Overall, I would be very leery of using their services. There are several situations where things can go wrong, and based on my experience, communication and follow-through can be unreliable. I’m posting this so others can make an informed decision before booking

For other's reading joy:

Glad you are sharing your experience, we are planning now and were considering looking into 60”

I have a hard time understanding "booking" something with a guy who has zero control of getting you into the field. Is this a common practice anywhere? I've always booked with the guy flying the plane.

Im surprised you booked another hunt with them after your first experience

This is where I'm at. Honestly I saw this post yesterday and thought about posting the same.

I personally don't know anything about Troy, he could be the greatest guy in the world to work with or the worst. I have never had any dealings with him.

That said, when I am looking at doing a hunt or trip, the single best source of information is my own personal experience. If I have hunted with someone before, I know exactly what I dealt with. If post booking the price changed by a significant amount through no fault of my own there is no way I would sign a second contract with the individual. If I did reach out for a second trip and I specifically requested language protecting myself from a similar issue and they even hesitated for a second, I would not be sending a deposit, I would find another option.

Best of luck with either a return of deposit or maybe he will smooth things out and you will have the hunt of your dreams.

Why would you expect anything different than your first experience. You knew exactly what you were signing up for. The hunt isn't until 2027 and you are throwing a fit, online for the world to see, 20 months before your actual hunt.

If I was the outfitter, or any other outfitter seeing this, your name would go on the do not do business with list.
