6 UM Reloading Thread

Curious if the tips are too pointed for hunting or if they will open on critters.

If they are like the other MRT’s out there my guess is they’ll be too small and will have to be cut back a little with a meplat uniformer and mby even drilled. That or nose ring them. I’m likely to order some and find out.

“The new MRT™ System takes consistency beyond the envelope. Every bullet nose is formed with optimal swage pressure determined by force instead of length. In addition to reducing a projectile’s drag by shrinking its meplat diameter, this technique takes the inherent meplat inconsistencies that plague OTM (Open Tip Match) style projectiles and brings them closer to the rotational axis.”

85.5 LRHT, Impact velocity was 2892, Sample size is one, but it appears the tips open.
And I also found info on the 144 LHRT's and they seem to be working. My comments above might not be valid :) Time will tell.

Anyone getting stiff bolt with 66 n570? 40 degree? Had several last week that were stiff. Maybe the PBB chamber is a little different than my old benchmark.

Slightly with 116’s but nothing I’m worried about. PVA barrels. I didn’t pressure test until 100 rounds on the barrel.

Getting ready to start load development on three 6um’s. What’s everyone’s preference for bullet choice? Dtac coated deep cut, 116tsmk? I also have a box of the new 120 Berger showing up in a week.

Is it worth it to go out and buy 7828ssc for fire forming? I have no problem with buying it but I do have leftover N560 and N568 that I’m no longer using. Would either one of those work with a reduced load?

Well yeah, just put less of it in and walla…there’s your reduced load…

Are those powders as hard on barrels as 570?
I couldn't find 7828 so just used h1000. Think 58 grains. Then Hornady has some cheap 105 grain bullets. Like $20 something for 100.

They’re still double base powders so I’d imagine they aren’t much easier on barrel life. I’m far from an expert on that subject though.

Yes I’m having this issue with the PBB. Flattening my primers, have ejector marks, and at times can barely lift the bolt. I’m wondering if I need to ream just a whiff more?? Did you ever figure yours out? Trying to not change the load if possible.

So I cleaned my chamber and it seemed to help a little. Loading more rounds right now for it and I'm not changing anything.

It doesn't seem to be every round. Just a couple. I'll take it out and shoot it this next week and see if it happens again.

Also trimmed my brass. Had 150 new pieces that hadn't been trimmed yet.
