6 UM Reloading Thread

Interesting. I was at about 100rds. 63.5 was 3301 on my pressure ladder and created one and done brass, could’ve pushed the primer in with my thumb darn near, very heavy ejector mark. I’ll be curious to see what you end up with. Maybe +P would work well if your intention is to run h1000?

After owning a +P barrel and hearing about Ryan's, I would never do it to another 6 UM.
With H1000, I think it's a matter of trading some velocity for barrel life. Just a question of how much of each.

Ended up tweaking my original load after all my brass was fired and the barrel was fully broken in. 130 rounds down the pipe thus far. Repeatable 3-shot groups at .4” and 5-shot groups at .7”

-6UM-30
-24” benchmark 7 twist
-64.5g N570 with zero pressure signs
-115 deep cut coated DTACS
-once fired adg brass
-30 thou from the lands
-Fed 215M
-.003 neck tension (.271 bushing/ .241 mandrel)
-3340FPS, with ES of 15 with 15 shots in the chrono

I hope the primer pockets last. No ejector marks, bolt had an easy lift….hoping to have this brass last the life of the barrel. We’ll see. 🤞🏻

If I’m going to drop down from the 115/116, it will be for the new 107 tmk

So just curious, but what is considered the “production load” from unknown munitions? I thought there used to be a sheet comparing the load from 30 vs 40 but now I can’t find it.

Question - I have 6UM 30 brass that needs to be fire formed to 40 and would like to use some powders I don’t use much. I also have h1000 that I can use if these are not ideal:

H4350
IMR 8133

Are either of these hard on barrels? If not, what powder amount would you suggest for fire forming with 100 grain bullets?

H4350 is too fast and has a reputation for not being easy on barrels. Not terrible, but not H1000 either.
8133 is in a good range for burn rate. Somewhere around 60 grains should do it.
