6 PRC recoil vs. 7-300 NMI recoil. Through the scope.

Did some testing with a few positions to see recoil and impact differences between these two guns of mine.

11.6lb 6 PRC. 108 Berger’s at 3200fps.

10.5lb 7-300 NMI. 180 ELDM’s at 3120fps

These are the max yardages that I would prefer to shoot from either of these positions in the field.

I always have a bipod on my gun. So that’s what I used.

First position is kneeling, (right knee on ground, left up). And kind of crouched, because bipod doesn’t go THAT high. With an open tripod in the rear, pinching the toe of stock up against it. 604 yards.

Second position is seated, just bipod front support, knees kind of tucked up, with my elbows resting on them. 275 yards. No back rest for me.

I planned to run groups with each gun to see how fast follows up and racking were, but my bolt wouldn’t clear the trigger cam housing on the scope on my 6 PRC. So I just gathered the info presented. Most future testing will continue of course.

The 604 yard 7-300 NMI hit landed exactly on the 6 PRC hit. So you’ll just have to trust me there. But I have no reason to lie lol.

Oh sorry. They both have the same 4 port muzzle brakes on them.

And all shots were taken at 10X on the scope.
Be interested to see vids with a can. I know my short barrel 11.5# 300nmi has WAY more reticle shift on target compared to my 10.5# 6prc. All wearing suppressors however. When I used to shoot the big boys a lot, I actually preferred the 338 rum/300 Berger over my 300nmi with 245s. The nmi was about 1.5# lighter. The rum just had a slower recoil pulse. Both those were braked. I love brakes for their recoil reduction but man just can't take the concussion anymore.

Yeah I don’t have any experience with suppressors at all. But brakes help tremendously.

300 NMI with 245’s has a lot more recoil than my 7-300 with the 180’s as well.
