I think the 6 Creed is pretty optimized, it's a better shoulder angle than the 243, and obviously not as sharp as the 40° on the AI (which I found to be a pain in the ass to bump shoulders consistently, and can feed funny sometimes). To me it's not worth it between those 2, get good creed brass or neck down to 6-284 and send it.

I agree with others on the H1k being too slow, I used H4831SC/IMR 4831 in mine with great results. I can't remember the exact number but I ran a 105 VLD up to almost 3200fps on a pressure ladder in a 22" Ruger barrel, and I still didn't have any significant pressure signs on Hornady brass.

I will likely go 6 creed. I’m torn between light recoil and maximizing performance. The 6-284 undoubtably has better performance but obviously comes at the cost of higher recoil. Not that either would be uncomfortable

I think you'll be happy. I didn't have a can when I still had my 6, but even my current 20" 25 Creed is not unpleasant to shoot unbraked with a limbsaver pad, and is flat awesome to shoot with a can.

I love nerding out about combinations but to he honest just step back and ask what does 150fps do realistically in terms of practicality of hunting/shooting compared to the fact there is lots of easy brass and even quality ammo available in 6creed.

Also if you want to pick up a little distance the 109eldm instead of the 108 is an option, its a decent BC jump.

Right. It is looking like 6 creed is the move.

Now to find a good deal on prefits haha

Yeah I was planning to avoid that one lol MY C6 shoots great but I’m not waiting 11 months on a barrel. Mine was only 20 weeks fortunately

The easy button definitely favors the straight 243 and 6 Creed especially if you factor in factory ammo. With regard to factory ammo there's probably more high BC heavy for caliber ammo available for the 6 CM then there is the 243 Winnie.

If you're buying a new off the shelf rifle there's probably more options available in 243 Win then there is 6 CM.

They're basically identical in performance so if you're loading your own I don't think one has any real advantage over the other.

Building a rifle and Handloading. The option for factory ammo is nice as a backup though

Have a new tikka 243 on the way and have been thinking about having a smith run another reamer through it to 243AI or 6mm-284 but based on the numbers the 243 seems to have plenty of velocity out to 750-800 yard and I can’t really kill em any more dead. I’m going to start with just the regular 243 hoping I get 3000 with 109s. If the velocity isn’t there I will reevaluate. I’m planning on running a uni-throater in it to make room to seat those bullets out where they should be. Fingers crossed I get the performance I want without having to monkey around.

I have run a 243, then AI'd it. Got about an extra 100fps with a 22" barrel.

I have run a 6Creed & 6XC the last few years - they are essentially ballistically interchangeable (NOT literally interchangeable). The Creed is the easiest due to wide availability of components, dies, etc. Personally would not bother with a 243 in any form again. If I wanted more than a Creed, I would go to a 6-284 / 6-6.5PRC / 6-7SAUM / 6-7PRC.

If tikka sold a 6mm Creed I would definitely have grabbed that instead. I don’t think anyone has anything bad to say about 6mm Creed.

I'd just keep it as straight 243 and throat it. I did with mine and can get 3000 with 108 easy. Shoots really well

One drawback I hear people say about straight 243 is having to trim all the time. Do you really need to trim that much?
