Anyone been doing load development/shooting with their 6 CM and the new Hor 80 gr Eld VT? Is so mind sharing details to accuracy, velocity, OAL, twist, powder/charge weights, etc ??

Thx

I tried them in my 6arc bolt gun but couldn’t get them to shoot well. The factory ammo with them didn’t do that great for me either. Around 1-1.5”

I have very good luck with Sierra 85 bthp though. It’s a shorter bullet than the 80, but it’s printing .19-.3” groups at 2885 out of my 20” arc

Thx for update. I ve yet to try in 6 CM but I ve shot about a dozen in my 6 ARC with 4 different seating depths and all same powder charge so far. Nothing has jumped out as really good… mostly 1”+ but the bullet is giving me 3000 fps in my 22” mini with 29.5 grs of TAC. That same powder charge does 2950 fps with my 80 Sierra Blitz but at 5/8-3/4” moa.

Going to play some more and try some different charges at some point too. On oal I ve ran 2.355” (jam) to 2.26” so far. Next is 2.240” and maybe shorter ….

I almost gave up on my ARC due to lack of temp stable powders.
I first found a .25” group with 95 smk and 29.5gr of varget at 2775. Then for a slightly cheaper and better hunting bullet, tried to short 85 Sierra bthp with the same charge of varget and it is unreal how consistently accurate that load is. I’m sure a ball powder would have me 3000+ fps but this speed is fine for my purposes and deadly accurate

I tried a lot of bullets and would go from sub moa to over moa on lots of them. I think part of it is the Howa mini is so light and narrow that it’s hard to shoot accurately.

That said the most consistent accuracy bullet was Berger 95 Classic Hunter… I m just cheap and like a little less expensive bullet but gun does like it.

(Tried. 108 Eldm, 105 AMax, 100 TGK, 90 TGK, 95 TMK, 95 CH, 95 VLD hunting, and 80 Sierra Blitz. The Blitz shoots well too, right with 95 CH but it’s a varmint bullet.

I did shoot some 400-540 yd rockchucks this last spring and the Berger CH proved itself again at distance as most consistent and accurate.
