Just got my 6 CM back from the smith a week or so ago and got a chance to go put some rounds through it. It's wearing a 7.5 twist C6 barrel and didn't really love the Hornady PH 103 ELDX, acceptable but not great. What's everybody find theirs's are liking?
I'm going to order a box of Berger 105's and a box of Hornady Match 108's and see what happens. I am really hoping to not have another rifle I need to reload for as its primary purpose was to be a "cheap-ish" to shoot trainer rifle and something I can let my young nephew whack deer with.

Berger 95 grain classic hunters shot 1/2" or so out of my PH2. I also shot the 103 ELDX and they shot clover leafs. These were both 3-shot groups though. Just got a few boxes of Barnes VOR-TX 95 grain LRX as they were on sale but haven't shot those yet, have had really good luck with barnes ammo in other rifles though.

Federal loaded 107 SMK (average 5-shot = 0.465 MOA)

Berger Loaded 105 Hybrid Target (average 5-shot group = 0.673 MOA)

Black Hills Loaded 108 ELDM (average 5-shot group = 0.660 MOA)

Federal Loaded Berger 105 Hybrid Target (average 5-shot group = 0.478 MOA)

Hornady 103 ELDX (average 5-shot group = 0.823 MOA)

Hornady Black 105 BTHP (average 5-shot group = 0.848 MOA)

Hornady 108 ELDM (average 5-shot group = 0.624 MOA)

Norma 107 Golden target (average 5-shot group = 0.553 MOA)

Nosler 115 RDF (average 5-shot group = 1.030 MOA)

Hornady and Federal have had good MV SDs (over 20 round strings). Norma, Nosler, and Berger have had higher MV SDs. Berger has a MV variation of about 3 fps per 1* F, while Hornady offerings have been about 1 fps per 1* F. Nosler premium offerings, in several cartridges and in multiple offerings, have all been pretty terrible in my experience.

I just bought a few hundred rounds of Federal SMK to get a new barrel settled in, but I'll probably order 1,000+ rounds of Hornady 108 ELDM for the rest of that barrel.
Curious, have you tested any of the Barnes factory ammo (TSX and TTSX)? Don't have a chrono, wondering how the MV varies compared to the others..

Thanks,
Zane

108 eldm's factory hornady load. Need to shoot some 5 shot groups but this was while sighting in, first time out with mine.

There's not 1 thing on that rifle that is "cheap-ish" with the possible exception of the scope caps!!! ;-) That is one nice rifle.

Generally, I have found Nosler's BT ammo to be very accurate out of the box.

Depending on what you’re planning on shooting, or if you’re good with match bullets…eagle eye ammo out of phoenix would be a good option!

This project got tabled this year after shooting Berger and Hornady match ammo, as it didn’t do much better than the ELD-x. I recently pulled the barreled action out of the McMillan and put it in an XLR element 4.0. I will start load development in the next couple weeks. I plan to shoot a ladder with both H4350 and N555 with 108’s and see what I like best in Alpha LRP brass

Sig factory 107 match and berger CH 95 have been the best factory options out of mine thus far. The sig stuff has been available for around $27/box online lately.

As promised. N-555 put all 11 loads into 1 ragged hole @100 yards- I only saw signs of cratered primers at top loads- no major pressure signs like ejector stamps or swipes.

I will likely move forward with N-555- I still need to plot the results in excel and nerd out.
