6 ARC for youth

Picked up a Howa Mini 6ARC for my son, anyone used these for Whitetail yet? How did it perform?

My son is doing great with his. He is able to shoot it well without being aftaid of recoil. 2 does with 108 eldm no issues, one with a 90tgk. Again no issues. The 108 ELDMs had a ton of damage and 30 yard runs, the 90 TGK damaged less meat but was a bang flop.

I think I like the TGK up close and save the ELDM for anything over 150y.

I used my Howa Mini on a Cow Elk at 115 yards, and my boy used it at 380 yards on a mule deer buck. Both were bang flops. I am hand loading the 105 tipped bullet from Mid South Shooters Supply. My boy loves it for the low recoil.

I would do some reading on this thread. It's full of success with 6mm's. Pick the bullet you want to use and keep it above 1800 fps.

Yes, I’ve killed both whitetail and pronghorn with one. 210 yards on the whitetail. High shoulder and dropped immediately. 290 yards on the pronghorn…right in the pocket and exited out the front of the backside shoulder. Ran 5 yards and died. I really like that little round.

Howa Mini Action in 6mm ARC with factory Hornady 103 ELDX @ 2614 fps from the factory 22" barrel took a shmedium whitetail buck for me at 320 yards with 1 shot and a 20 yard run. Will use again for any big game animal.
