6.8spc for pigs

I just booked my first pig trip. I am thinking of gun options now. I was thinking of building a 6.8SPC any thoughts on this. I reload so that’s not a problem. Has anyone had good experience with the 6.8SPC ? I also have a 6mmARC would that be a better option? Thanks

I had a 16" Contender barrel a few years back, killed a bunch of deer and a few hogs with the 110gr TSX and Sierra 110gr. Worked great.

I've killed a pile of pigs with 6.8. Switched from 300blk and never looked back. I reload but never messed with it for this rifle, always just bought Hornady 120sst and have been pleased with it's performance.

I’ve killed deer and a bull elk with my 12.5” 6.8. The 120SST makes nasty wounds. The Cavity Back 105MKZ is another proven performer. I killed the bull with the 120MKZ but if I were to do it again, I would choose the 105 for higher velocity.


But if you’re just shooting pigs to kill them, then go cheap, with whatever you can get and shoots well in your rifle. I would rock the SST and call it a day.

6.8spc is my go to for pigs...still have a couple cases of the SSA 110gr hunter, I am working on. Works great inside 150yds. Perfect for guarding a bait pile all night.
