Those are estimated velocities at impact location based on muzzle velocity and range.

I can’t reach pressure with 130gr TMK and N565 before I run out of case volume but I can see mid 2800s MV with N565 with the TMK.

I think if I pursue that bullet long term I’ll try n560.

Also I’m at sea level. I can’t get 2600 with 43gr h4350 and 6.5cm without flattening primers.

Checking out the new garmin yesterday, I’m at 2656fps w 130gr TMK 41.5 gr h4350, lapua srp brass, 18” Tikka 6.5Cm.

Does altitude have an effect on velocity at the muzzle, didn’t think that was a thing?

We harvest moose every year with 150g eldx from 7mm08, moose are not as tough as people think and they tend to not run very far. Put any non bonded bullet in there 🫁 and they will die fast. We have over 20moose killed in my family with everything from 375-7mm and the 150g eldx is hands down the most effective if shot in the right place.

It shouldn't affect muzzle velocity, only drop at distance.

Good question...taking a step back... I just thought it did. I got 28XX on a full case of N565 in a PRC case behind a 130gr TMK with no pressure. So it seems like at 165 yards or so launching with a PRC is like shooting that deer 1 foot away with a 6.5 Creedmoor.

Whenever I feel like jumping on one of those caliber comparison threads I get hung up on barrel length, powder, bullet, loads etc and realize as Form says most people are just typing out feelings myself included sometimes.

PS: I can't touch 2650fps with 43gr H4350 behind a 147gr ELD. If there are no physical barriers with altitude then maybe one or both of our chronographs are off?

130 TMK, I think I was at 2695 with 43.5gr.

All comments in this post relate to 6.5 CM not PRC.

I trued the 57gr H1000 load with 147ELD today.

Shooter was on with some variation at the close targets.

I missed a perfect quick drop scenario by a few 1/10th mil here and there.

I'm going to shoot some does tonight with this load and see how the wounds compare to 130gr TMK. I'm expecting same-same performance at the ranges I anticipate engaging at but we will see.

I'll get more data next week for 147 ELDM. 2532fps estimated impact velocity on this shot tho.

I flubbed this shot. I had trouble building a position in the tree saddle. I'm going to try sitting on the platform and using the tether in my front hand and pull on it for a supported offhand shot next time.

Usually when I throw you "so you shouldn't" folks say "we wouldn't" but if anyone was wondering you can't bump a shoulder on a loaded round.

I had some hard bolt closes so I pulled the decapper out of my neck sizer and bumped them but that's a no go. I imagine this is common knowledge to more experienced reloaders.

I pulled the bullets, full length sized and fire formed them back out.

I just voted for 147 ELD because that's what I'm planning to send.

I loaded another "lot" last night with 57gr H1000. It's not the fastest load but I prefer the precision and recoil impulse over the heavier loading work I've done.

My impacts on the new loads are left of the prior loads but less than one click different.

I don't think the .05 mil elevation turret I ordered from Maven will arrive before my hunt so I'm just going to roll with it.

If I shoot more female white-tailed deer before the 10/28 moose opener I'll post them up otherwise I'm good to go.

I'm taking a mag of 130TMK for my bear tag to hopefully get some more terminal ballistics data for Bluumoon.

My own bear testing showed the 130 puts a pop can size hole through bear necks at short range and when you allow friends to shoot deer with it they can make a helluva mess. Hopefully some elk data in a little over a week.

I just shot a mature Shiras cow here in Colorado with the 143gr ELDX. The shot was 140 yards, she took 3 steps and dropped dead. I was really happy with how it performed. I’ve shot 2 elk with the same factory Precision Hunter loads and both of those elk dropped right there. How much different performance on game would one expect between ELDX and ELDM?

My son shot his first moose this year using a 6.5 PRC and forty Hornady 143 ELD-X loads. I was impressed with it, yes it separated but did the job. We found the jacket on the opposite side in the hide. He shot it three times, but the first shot did the job.

word...we rolled 4 more last night with 130 TMK. The dudes at our processors are "over it" and its interesting to hear the banter on our wounds when they must look at 50 plus cup and core wounds a night.

I'm just going to take the ELD to Maine, I'm almost out of the green guys.

Meaning they don't like the TMKs? Or just they aren't impressed by much, but have something to say about your wound channels?

My impression is the fragments and the fascia damage make more to talk about compared to a cup and core wound. There's just more stuff going on inside.

By "over it" I meant I think I'm the only customer hauling in animals killed with match bullets and its not interesting anymore.

So far this year wounds have been normal except I had a shot that a frag exited out the neck that looked like an entrance at first glance that was discussed. One frag last night cut the tenderloins. Last night one deer had the rumen open to much ribbing but it was actually from a wax myrtle stick puncture from the crash.

😂 I wouldn’t shoulder bump them when loaded but I damn sure wouldn’t have thought to fire that crumpled SOB to push it back out!

I have a new Hornady FL sizing die coming from Midway to hopefully eliminate this issue I'm having with almost all cases denting in my Redding die. I backed off a hair to get the dents to quit but then I started having brass that was hard to close the bolt on.

Are you using too much case lube? Maybe a the die has crud built up in it?

I don't think so.

Folks on this forum and LRO and perhaps elsewhere have had trouble with the Redding sizing die.

Some report that swapping out with a RCBS or Hornady sizing die resolving the matter.

Some report reaming the chamber resolving the matter.

I've had trouble with a Redding 450 Marlin die too which was undersizing the brass compared to the Hornady and RCBS sizing dies I've had. Redding might be a tad overrated.
