@Bluumoon, here's where I'm at with 130gr TMK.



No pressure signs.

I can't help but wonder if that stiff bolt is one play away from where I'm at but I was wrong on the last 2 shots.

I figured I'd be pulling bullets by now.

Our doe season opens 9/15 and I'll be in the saddle. That's my big day. I'm not a motivated buck hunter.

Update for the 130gr TMK:

At 2.955 OAL I got 2848 fps w/ 61 grains N565 and 2872fps w/ 61.5 grains same powder.

61.6 grains N565 encroaches into the neck but settles with a few taps on the table and is crunchy seating but does not show an ejector mark or make a stiff bolt.

This is the Shooter data for 60.5gr N565 MV 2808fps with the section of the screen that show the upper end of range that stops around 1800fps.

This is the Shooter data for 57gr H1000 w/ 147gr ELD in the same rifle.




I was intrigued that the H1000 is faster than N565 w/ 147gr ELD but slower w/ 156 EOL.

I'm seeing the 147gr H1000 load as a 750yard gun and the 130TMK N565 load as a 670 yard gun (or a 630 yard gun if 1000lbs of energy is more important than 1800fps).

I ran a ladder for H1000 today.




18" 6.5 PRC 2.955 OAL 130gr TMK

I had an ejector mark at 58 grains, an unmarked round at 58.5 grains and then got stiff at 59 grains.

I ran another set of 130gr TMK 2.955 OAL with N565 powder just to check what I did yesterday.

I had pressure at 59.5 but I'm thinking its from touching the lands.

The pen is pointing to my data from today. The blue border sheet is posted above and from yesterday.






I'll load up some at 60 or 60.5 grains and do a 10 round group to adjust for zero tomorrow and get Bluumoon those whitetail necropsies before I start screwing around with 147gr ELDs again.

Just checking in. Since the last post I've dickered with the different powders but I think I'm settling into 57gr H1000 with the 147gr ELD. It's not as fast as it could be with N565 with a larger load but the 57gr H1000 load is just laying the shots right on top of each other and is pleasant to shoot.

Not options on the poll but, 127gr LRX and 124gr Hammer Hunters have both been excellent on multiple moose out of my wife's 6.5 Creed, even on hard quartering shots. Distances from ~20 yards to ~350 yards. Both leaving the muzzle just over 2,900 fps from a 22" barrel.
