Just used 140gr tipped fusion on elk. Got great results. Fusion is mentioned a lot by form as a great bullet, and new tip helps with longer shots and makes terminal ballistics even better.

I like how you get some fragmentation, but the shank travels deep. Best of both worlds.

I loaded a 124 gr hammer with rl22 and got amazing groups out of it. Decided to shoot my elk with it a few years ago out of my 6.5 prc and the first shot was at 150 yards or so broadside and a good shot. Elk ran about 200 yards or so and sat down head still visible. There were some hunters hauling down a side road on a side by side and I didn't want them getting my elk so I shot her again at 100 or so yards in the neck and lights out. The bullet was devastating and when I field dressed her it ruined more meat than I thought so I changed my load up. I don't want to lose meat.1000049991.jpg1000049992.jpg1000049994.jpg1000049995.jpg1000049996.jpg

6.5 Accubonds kill anything and everything. Moose. Elk... whatever.
The only thing it doesn't kill is an Antelope. Because it drills a pencil hole.

In all honesty.
I hated 130 tmk. Way to much damage. Now I hunt with 223.lol
I like the 143 eldx wound

Edit.. my experience is limited. Lots of bullets will kill with the 6.5. I've used accubonds as well. I'm not that picky so I've been somewhat easy to please

My experience with the GMX, which was perfect on a cow elk at 400yds.

Think they have modified it to the CX now which I haven’t used.

140 AB’s or 140 Berger Elite Hunters are my go to out of my PRC. Because they flat out kill and get it done fast.

The 6.5 will do the job. I've killed numerous elk with one. Started with 129 sst killed a few. Longest was 698yds. went to the 140 and and killed a few more. Working up the 143 ELD-X now. Use the one his rifle will shoot.

My Weatherby mark v .270 started getting spent cases stuck in the chamber several weeks before elk season, which was a convenient excuse to pick up a new Tikka t3x in 6.5 prc.

Will be shooting the 130 Terminal Ascent for elk and mule deer this year myself.

Maybe a Lehigh defense controlled chaos for fun?

I don’t think you’d get a 156 to fit loaded out very far.

120 TTSX Out Of A 6.5-284 Will Do It. Shot Was At 92 Yds, Facing, The Bullet Went In Just Above The Heart And Came To Rest In The Off Side Ham.. Got 30+" Of Pentration. And Weighted 115 Grs..The Elk Made It Less Than 100Yds..

First and foremost I’m not looking for other caliber recommendations. I know what I shoot, and shoot it well. Currently been hunting everything in Montana last 3 years with my 6.5cm and keep shots under 400yds always. Punched a boat load of tags from Elk to Antelope with 143g ELDX.

That said, for fun I’m looking press a new load as a do all hunting round. Currently looking at 130 accubonds, 140g partition, 127 LRX, and 125 HHT Hammers. Open to new suggestions as well.

I have the Savage model 16 lightweight hunter in 6.5 I have a buddy that swears by 130 Prime bullets. I bought several boxes & dialed mine in, But Prime stopped producing bullets a couple of years ago. I picked up some 140 & 143s my gun shoots the 143 way better than the 130 or 140s ..
