I ended up using 124 grain Hammer bullets in mine, 3350 fps and worked great on the one deer it took .We can only speculate, just build it and find out! If you can't get the speed you want, pick an appropriate weight solid that'll stabilize in ur twist(I suggest 7.5) and you'll get those to 3200+ they penetrate like mad, take em shoulder or raking, no fear of blowups.
So you get there by pushing the hell out of it and showing significant pressure signs? Maybe. My guess is that you'll have inaccuracy and high ES. Just depends on what you want more...max speed or accuracy

You get there by experimenting with appropriate components and decide to use the best combination. Accuracy, speed and ES can be great with the right components.
Don't we all

Like I said I have lots of dumb ideas.![]()
Lots of guys running 130s at 3200 from 6.5 saum and 20” barrel I’m sure you could get the 156 to 3000 in a wsm just might take some experimenting with powders. Rl26 would be where I would start

I think you could, I was getting 3040 ft/s with Berger 170’s from my 270wsm with a 24” barrel, RL26 was the powder.
What twist? I have a 270 WSM is like to shoot these out of, but I don’t want to waste my time if they just won’t stabilize out of a 10 twist.

1:8, don’t waste your time with a 10.

3000' with 6.5 SAUM with the 156 I dont believe would be obtainable with my experience with my 20" SAUM (.120 FB). I'm running 143 ELDx at 3015 at a node with RL26. During load working, I did see close to 3100 once and primer blew. Primer pockets are toast after 2 firings above 3050 for my chamber and barrel. I think 2900 to 2950 might reasonably obtainable in a 20" with 156s. I'm getting close to rebarreling my SAUM but if anyone has a few 156s laying around, I would be happy to test with RL26, H1000, and 4831SC and report back.
