6.5 PRC powder

I shot today at 1850 yards.
26" barrel,
7.5 twist,
velocity 3100 ft.,
Hornady brass,
primers Federal 215m,
Powder Vihta N165 58gr.
bullet A-Tip 153.
I hit it without problems but the high pressure caused the primers to fly out and broke the ejector.
Hornady data shows 53.3g as max load

Did you work up to that load? Were you seeing an pressure signs before?

I'm sure that your load was WAY over the SAAMI spec of 65K psi. I'm glad that all that happened was a broken ejector and some ruined brass.

I was working with a factory Tikka 24.3" barrel and this load on this barrel gave a velocity of 2950 ft/s. I thought on the new barrel it would be about the same velocity, I didn't think the velocity would be higher by 150 ft/s.

I could not get H1000 as accurate as I would like with 140 class bullets but it seems to be finding a home with berger 156, Still need to find a seating depth it likes, For 140's, n560 is doing the trick for me with good vel (3k+) and accuracy.
