6.5 PRC or 7 PRC for next Custom and why

For that reason alone I would vote 6.5

Also that SAUM you're selling looks sweet. Wish I was in buying mode right now.

I was asking for a friend. Not for myself. I already have a very nice custom 6.5 PRC. Personally I like the 6.5 PRC and a 30 mag as a 1-2 punch.

Yeah that's a good setup. I have a 22-250 and a 300. Feel like I need a middle gun like a 7-08 or 6gt

7-08 has always intrigued me. I think if I was a 1 rifle guy I’d do a 7PRC as a do all

I priced the components, and was immediately out. I like to shoot too much for that.

Yeah I wish I wasn't cheap. 6 UM is super cool.

I cringe every time I shoot my 22-250 thinking about it's poor barrel life, but I just love to shoot it, and it costs pennies to shoot.

I'm hoping as people use it that the Proof PXT technology proves out their claims of potentially extending barrel life up to 100%. Otherwise when I have to rebarrel, I'm going to have to consider something a little less hot instead. Probably in the GT or ARC families.

I have a custom built 7 PRC, but recently bought a Christensen 6.5CM. I like both of them a lot. The 7 I take for big animals like elk or if I’m shooting over 400 yards on game. The wind bucking ability of the 7 with a 180 Berger is very noticeable vs the 6.5. I now have two reliable hunting rifles that shoot very good so I’ll have a backup wherever I go if something were to go wrong with one.

If I had to have one speaking 6.5 or 7 PRC I’d have the 7 just because of the flat shooting nature and the ability to reduce wind drift with lots of energy down range. However a lot depends on the game you’ll be taking regularly. Elk for me is the biggest and they seem to have the highest will to live so I prefer the heavier bullets.
