6.5 PRC barrel length 20 vs 24 inch

Buying a Seekins PH3 in 6.5 PRC.

What is everyone seeing in FPS in a 6.5 PRC 20 inch VS 24. I am not seeing a big enough advantage with 147s in 20 inch figures to justify a 6.5 PRC short barrel if I have a Long barreled creed.

I would like someone with real world figures on the shorter 6.5 PRCs to shoot me some Chronograph readings if they would please

Youll be able to get 2750 with the 20" reloading.

The Hornady factory ammo will be slower.

My Seekins 65PRC has been cut to 20”
I just looked back through my chrono data.
Before cutting the 24” barrel was 2935 with factory 147eldm.
After cutting to 20” 2830 was the velo for same lot of factory 147.

Hand loads with 57.5gr N565 and 147’s came in at 2835fps.
58.0 gave me sticky bolt lift on 100f days, but hit 2900fps with the 20”.

Reloading the same bullet: It’s still about 200fps faster than my 24” 6.5creed and 300fps faster than my 18” 6.5 creed.

My 20" PH3 with 156's is at 2760fps, my daughter blew through a large bull at 550 with it this year. I was hesitant but seeing the performance and looking at the numbers that is all gone now.

My 20” 6.5 prc is 2750ish shooting 147 ELDMs

My 20” Krieger barreled 6.5 prc is at 2820 with 147s, lapua brass, and 57.0 H1000 after 200 rounds. My 6.5 creed with a 24” proof barrel was at 2650 with 147s and 41.0 H4350. Granted that was at like 2500 rounds, but also 0.7 grains over book max.

I shot some of the weatherby loaded 156 Bergers out of my 20", chrono'd at 2745 for 10 shots. When the barrel was 24" they were 2807.

Tikka 6.5 PRC cut to 16.5 is just over 2700 with 147 ELDMs. 62 grains of N570. Shoots incredibly well.

My 20" slings 145 tgk at 2920 with less than max powder charges. No pressure signs even with hornady brass.

I’m getting around 2775 with factory 143 eldx from a 20 in fierce carbon rival and loaded some with 4831sc at 55.7 and averaged 2860s

This is my tikka cut to 22” with 147eldm handloads. It’s not 20” but you can extrapolate from it. This barrel sped up around 100fps by 150rounds.
