Can u get a tag every year for moose?

I'm guessing yes...

We're not sure where the bull is, but hoping he's on the edge of dog hair thick timber, so if he runs in that we're screwed!

Took 17 years to draw the tag and jump shooting, while exciting, isn't a high percentage method in this case.

If you could draw the tag every year, I'm sure we'd be jump shooting like crazy.

Note that I'm not criticizing, and I expect your set up to pay off shortly. :) Just saying it's different. Thick 4-5 ft brush in my areas make a moose killed at long range near impossible to find afterward, so it's a kill them at close range affair for us. You look like you have the set up and terrain to make it work.

I'll beg to differ on the success odds of jump shooting moose though. Once a legal bull is spotted from a distance, it has been my experience that walking in on them results in dead moose a majority of the time. ESPECIALLY during the rut. Come from in slow from down wind, rake brush, and grunt once in a while. High odds they will either come to you or at least stick around to see what you are.

They typically just aren't that flighty IME.... and that is more than a couple of moose.

Good luck!

You've killed way more than me.... it's the 3 hours to find the spot that worries me.

If this doesn't pan out, we'd planned on heading over in the morning.

Also, the fact that I've only killed one and helped with 3 others, leaves that whole "am I doing this right" type of thing going on.

We've called in z few already, but no big ones.

It's about dark there now anyway but you need to break the nicotine addiction as it makes you prone to mission failure ! Food ? A man can go for months without food ! Suck it up ranger , others are counting on you. ;). Just sitting and doing a bunch of nothing while freezing is as tough a duty as you will ever pull.

Mike,
You'll notice the difference when you are needing Chemo! Just trying to keep one of my favorite people alive! :)

That's no joke ! My uncle who dipped got cancer under his lower lip from dipping. He quit smoking and started dipping when he was in the navy on a fueling crew. He couldn't smoke while on duty so he dipped. They had to cut his lip off and reconstruct a new one fron skin and flesh from elsewhere. Cut his throat from ear to ear to take all the lymph nodes out and he lost most of his lower teeth and part of his jaw also. After that they damn near killed him with chemo. He was I think 36 years old when it got him. His lower face and neck look like Frankenstein's monster these days and he's permanently kind of wasted away now. After all the chemo he never regained his muscle and skin tone.

No moose tonight! We did see a cow, calf and a little bull, plus one bear.

Yup my old man has dipped for 50 plus years, damn prostate got him and he bounced back from chemo pretty quick. But then there is a coworker of mine that did multiple triathlons every year, in perfect shape and did nothing unholy to his temple, died of a massive heart attack at age 46. I'll keep chewing cause I like it and know more people that have died from heart issues then anything and like Mike haven't seen a diff while hiking with or without.

Now back to the hunt we each have our own vices :) and have heard we need to change too many times.

The chewing comment was me teasing my friend, not a lecture. By all means chew away!
