44 mag Leveroution

I have a Marlin 1894 44 mag and have been having a hard time finding winchester white box ammo for it lately. I turned to Hornady Leveroution hoping that would be a good ammo to swap to. The very first one I put in my gun got jammed. Has anyone else had this problem?

I run those bullets in 45-70 and haven't had a jam issue.

I shoot a couple hundred a year through my 35rem and never had an issue.

Im going to give them another try. It was just odd that I've never had an issue before yet the first one I tried got jammed.

how did it jam?

The lever jammed wide open and the bullet got stuck half way out of the tubular magazine. I had to take a flat head screw driver and put some electrical tape on it amd tap the rim of the bullet to get it out.

Maybe. Im going to the range again next weekend and I will post an update

It was several years ago, but I had a Rossi 44 mag, and it would cycle that stuff fine. It did had trouble with with the big 240gr Remington HPs, just not enough bullet taper to feed into the chamber easily. The lever revolutions have good taper and worked fine for me.

wonder if they are to long?

I shoot them in 45-70. Those cases are almost .10” shorter, to allow for the extra length of the tip. They will not eject a loaded round, loaded on a standard length 45/70 case. Marlin guide gun.
