.410 What chokes should I buy

I just purchased a combination gun that has a .410 shotgun barrel that uses screw in chokes. It came with a full choke. I can get Improved, Modified and Skeet chokes for $28 a piece. A TSS choke will run me $45.

I do not have any particular game animals in mind at the moment. My objective is to buy what I MAY want or find useful in the future. That said I do not want to spend money on a football bat.

What chokes would you recommend that I buy.

I am in Western Montana for what it is worth.

I also do not want to limit the discussion to game birds. I am looking for overall utility.

Thanks!

Lost in your question is what you plan to do with it. Birds? Turkeys? I mean if its turkeys buy the TSS choke. If you're grouse hunting in the woods getting close shots I would go one route if its in open country I would go another. If its all of the above I would buy all excect the skeet choke.

double full in my Browning Citori.

double full puts it on par with a 20 gauge ic.

This is the way.

A Full .410 choke puts a good pattern at about a 30-35yd pattern. Which is the range most will recommend for hunting game birds.

Its why most of the older .410s have fixed Full chokes.

If going turkey, shoot TSS with an X-Full/TSS choke.

This.

So you said the gun came with a full choke. So folks missed that point as you don’t need a second full choke. I would pattern at 25 yards with your current choke and then decide. IMO Skeet…
