I would venture that most mature bulls have a 40" or greater spread.

That’s kind of where I’m at. I know what big big Shiras look like but my unit just isn’t known for giants. I want to be familiar with what a mature bull looks like and not pass a good bull. Unfortunately there won’t be a ton of looking them over pre season as they will be coming from thick timber in remote country before dropping into the rut zones.

Here's another shiras bull from years ago. This one i didn't hear if it got killed that fall, but I would guess he was right around 40". He was a younger bull that year, with the potential to be a monster in a few more if he survived. But there are very few shiras tags where he isn't a shooter bull.

Don't have a better pic...lol, but this is the B&C World record shot by Bobby Hebert in 2015. It was almost dark so pics were bad, but he was a beast. He shot him a few weeks after we saw it. Don't know what his spread was off the top of my head but he was something else. I believe it was a Governors tag. He had a paid scout that was parked at the same trailhead we were using. Still shot it with Trad equipment. We actually saw more moose on that hunt than we saw elk. We hunted the same drainage for elk the next year and it was much the same.
