4, 10’s Rotating Weekends

I have worked 4-10's for the better part of 25 years. I love it and never get tired of it. Three day weekends are great and it is easy to throw in a day here and there and have a four day which is even better.

I work a regular 4-10 schedule 5am-3pm M-T, off F-S. I wouldn't want another schedule. Just having a 3 day weekend feels a lot nicer. The extra day every other weekend would be hard to pass up.

I don't have a defined work schedule. Some weeks I knock out 40 by lunchtime on a thursday and take the rest of the week off. Some weeks I work 55 hours. Some weeks I work a few hours on saturday and sunday so I can take friday off without using PTO. Some weeks I spread my 40 out M-F. Just depends on the work load and what I have going on in my personal/family life. I'd rather have the flexibility I do now than a defined schedule. If a buddy calls me at 10 am and says "lets go fishing this afternoon" all I need to do is drop an email to my boss saying i'm taking the afternoon off.

I interviewed for a job today. Long story short it’s 4,10’s straight days, it’s maintenance so most of the work is done on weekends but every other weekend you get fri, sat, sun, mon off. I haven’t been offered anything, I’m considering at this point. It’s only a couple miles from home which is better than the 30 miles each way I have now. Does anyone work a schedule like that? Seems like you could get a lot of cool stuff done on the long weekend.
As nice as 4-10's are, not driving 30 miles each way will give you back a couple hours a day.

I've worked 4-10's for 15 years. The extra day feels like your weekend is doubled.
