I went down the Ruger path on three different 375. African model. Alaskan model. And a savage 375. It did make me fall in love with the 375 Ruger over the h&h.

That said, I put some in upgraded stocks. I cerakoted. I just never fell in love with them. They are perfectly functional rifles, and kind of CRF. But if you have the means I would look are other options.

A Pre-64 M70 in .375 H&H is the closest thing to a DG ready rifle that's ever been made in the USA. The trick is finding one that hasn't been F'd with by gunsmif hands that don't know that they don't know... Those made from just after WWII through the mid 50's are the sweet spot for quality and function, having the type 3 safety, and being D&T from the factory so you don't need to worry about a receiver being turned into Swiss cheese and or misaligned rear screw holes.

Any scope recommendations for a 375 used for buff on my Blaser r8?

Going back and forth between using an RMR, pulling my dual cc off another gun, or looking what else is out there. Mainly concerned that the dual cc eye relief is not as long as needed from a recoil perspective.

@Formidilosus do I lean into doing it old school and just get in there with irons because I can, or do we think the dual cc would survive and not be too short eye relief? It has made it through something like 30k of abuse on a sr15.

The CC should/would hold up. But, the invisible reticle at 1x isn’t what I would want for the use personally. I would be looking at the Trijicon 1-6x’s or the NF 1-6x NX6. Oth have good reticle that can be seen at low power.

Great point. A charge would be the time the battery somehow failed. Otherwise, I love the MDR-T6 reticle and locking turrets.

I gotta say though, the cc mode 1x dot has been very fun.

I didn’t realize the NX6 has 0.5” longer eye relief than the dual cc. My main complaint with the trijicons is second focal plane, although for what I am talking about the German #4 post isn’t the worst idea….

SFP for the use I don’t think is an issue, and with current reticles may be preferable.

I’m the guy who has RMA’d an elcan, RMA’d 4 nightforces, and broken several things other people have “had lots of use with no problems”

It’s a running joke among my group that my house is a vortex of destruction, and anything that makes it out of the house into the field is on borrowed time.

No issues here, but with your track record it sounds like you may be better off with iron sights haha.

Agreed. However, I just know the Kudu of a lifetime is going to walk out at 300 yards when I’m tracking a buffalo, so part of me knows I’d be wishing for FFP and a reticle with mil hashes in that situation.

Otherwise, the plains game barrel is a 20” suppressed 6.5CM with a ZT S2H scope if they are truly delivered in September, the current SWFA 3-9 if not.

Model 70 stainless classic is the holy grail IMO. They pop up used regularly, often a little more money than its worth but they are great.

Current BACO model 70 alaskan would be a great choice. They balance better than the safaris. The safaris are too muzzle heavy and just too heavy in general. I had a model 70 express classic and it was awesome to shoot, but the barrel profile was heavier than necessary and it kinda sucked to tote around. If you want a new rifle that you can actually trust, youre limited to win model 70, sako, or higher end stuff like echols, parkwest (dakota), blaser etc.

Push feed model 70 express can be had for an absolute steal and I wouldnt have any heartburn about using one of those.

I got to fondle some Park West arms rifles at a show a few years ago. They were gorgeous and the actions were butter smooth. I wish one of their rifles was in my budget.
