358 Winchester custom rifle build

I was just going down the 358 Win rabbit hole earlier this week and stumbled onto this thread. Being a lefty myself there is a lot of great info here.

Another option I didn't see was starting with the Ruger Gunsite 308 model. Already the correct bolt face, controlled round feed, right magazine length, lefty models available. Seems like just a barrel swap away, unless I'm missing something (having never done it before, I could be!)

I really like my Ruger Gunsight in 308. I'd mount the scope the traditional way, ditch the picatanny rail and get a QG peep site from NECG as backup. The plastic stock is better in my opinion too. The 16 inch barrel is LOUD so I'd look for the 18 inch version if you don't use a suppressor.
Jes might still be willing to rebore it for $250ish. But personally think 308 makes more sense. My 358 was fine, just not "better" enough to justify the hassle in my opinion.
