350 or 400 for 62# bow?

was curious what most guys shoot in that weight range? I’m shooting 392 grain 400 spine gold tip black labels out of my carbon stealth. Was having trouble with broad heads with 350s and that seemed to improve switching to 400s. Also just switched to a 4 vane setup which made a huge improvement for 50yards and farther. Haven’t shot broad heads with the 4 vane yet. Anyone else shooting 400s?

There are a lot of other variables that help determine optimal spine.

Draw length?
Arrow length?
Point weight/insert weight?
Lighted nocks?

Point weight/insert weight? 100grain point inserts I believe are 11 w/ 20 grain fact weight
Lighted nocks? No lighted nocks

Bowtech BTX-31 61@29. The bow likes a .300 Black Eagle Rampage with the 52gr half out, 150gr head with 3" feathers 465grs; or 3" Vanetec vanes and a 175gr head comes in at 500grs. I have not decided which way to go yet.

I have shot 60lb bows for a very long time and although I have been able to get 400's to fly in the past, there would always be an occasional flyer, 340's solved that. However, the faster the bow the stiffer spine they seem to like.

Gotcha. Last time I chronoed my bow it was shooting 283fps. Thinking about trying out some of the smaller diameter shafts and a stiffer spine. Maybe a little closer to 450grains total weight.

The faster the bow the stiffer the spine NEEDS to be. I am shooting a ~63 lb Matthews Z7 and run a .340 spine Easton Axis.

Optimal spine with those specs is roughly .353 depending on which fletchings your using and if you have wraps or not, this is assuming 100gr heads. So 340/350 should be a better arrow.

When I was shooting 65lbs with a carbon spyder turbo a couple years back I was shooting A/C Injexion 390's and according to all of the charts were under spined. Those arrows flew great for me and I could group broadheads out to 70 yards very well with them. I also already had the arrows so I shot them, prior I was shooting a 60lb prime.

Anyway, I don't think your underspined a dangerous amount your in the orange on pinwheel though and if you have issues or build new arrows definitely go the next spine stiffer. You could always pop in some lighted nocks to move the needle the other direction or cut an off of the arrows.

I should add that those Rampages are 28.25 carbon to carbon. The bow also likes a 28.25 FMJ with a 100gr head.

Hoyt RX4 Ultra - 60lbs at 28.5" DL and BE Carnivore 400s fly great for me. Arrows are 27.5 C-C, with 100gr up front, std inserts, 4 fletch on wraps. This is mainly a 3D/target set-up. GT400s (Valkyries) are heavier, but fly just as well.

I was using GT hunter pro 340s but accuracy was not very good.
